While I disagree I can understand your point. I think an extra year in the KHL isn't going to hinder his development.

I don't think it would hinder his development so much as I don't think it would help it as much as staying in NA.

Also, the Rangers very much need to point out the example to him of Bereglazov. The guy went back to the KHL and missed out on what would have been his chance in the NHL later in the season. And not all that much later than him going back.

I dont think it would hinder his development either, and hed obviously do well. I would just rather him adjust to NA on and off the ice, watch him develop and work with his future teammates. I think there is more to gain here than in the KHL

Keeping in mind that some guys simply do not have what it takes, what evidence is there that anything has been "Mickey Mouse management" and "awful" when it comes to handling NYR prospects lately?

Well that presents another set of issues - that we’re drafting players that don’t have what it takes.

Andersson and Chytil are literally the perfect example of how not to develop prospects. One has essentially been demoted after playing an entire season in the NHL (he has responded well, which is nice I guess). The other has been consistently yanked between the NHL and the AHL since year 1, when in reality he was not ready for either (but he was in Gorton and Clark’s eyes, and they can do no wrong ‘because Boston’). When he does play, he is getting scrap minutes on the 4th line.

All 3 of our first picks during this rebuild were rushed, during a rebuild nonetheless. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if this team was still in win now mode.

- Lias Andersson coming over 6 months after he was drafted
- Chris Kreider burning a year off his ELC to play in the post-season
- JT Miller rushed

Personally, I feel there were better paths they could have taken with these players. And this is just off the top of my head.

There was no need to sign Kravtsov this summer.

Kreider wasn't rushed at all. He was ready to play and got into 18 f***ing games. Jesus.

How was JT Miller rushed? He played his first season in the OHL and then moved to the AHL. Almost every single team would move a player a year post draft to the AHL if they could. The issue is almost no CHL prospects can make that move due to where they are drafted out of.

Not sure how Andersson was rushed, either. He was loaned back to Frolunda and played himself to the next level. He put up solid numbers in the AHL as well.

You're confusing a differing opinion on development to rushing. So, once again:

[citation needed]

Eh I don’t disagree

I think Lias was rushed over a bit, I get they wanted him in the AHL but they should have just left him in Frolunda for the year.

You could make the argument letting a Kravtsov stay in the KHL would be good for him.

I would also guarantee if it were up to the Rangers, Miller would have been signed this past summer, when it’s super clear he needs to cook more

If the Rangers were going to sign Miller, it would likely be to put him in the WHL.

Again, you're confusing a development strategy of preferring the AHL over other leagues. That's not the same as rushing. Rushing is pulling a Manny Malhotra. The Rangers haven't rushed a prospect in ages. Viewing a league differently than others is simply not synonymous with "rushing".

Do we know for certain if this kid 100 percent wanted to come to North America or was it the Rangers who pushed him to come over ? Or a combo of both?

Strome, Smith, McKegg and any of those guys have absolutely nothing to do with Kravtsov/Chytil being in the minors. They are in the minors because the organization things right now they would be better off developing there. Not having those guys would not suddenly make the organization change their minds on that fact. They would just have different vets in their place. If Kravtsov/Chytil/Any prospect shows that they are ready to produce at a higher level they will just bump out those dime a dozen guys.

I really hope this is the truth.

Rangers burning a year off of Kreider's ELC being a bad move is a spicy take. That team made the conference finals, needed offensive punch, and he gave them 5 goals.

People try to min-max contract stuff a bit too much. Or at least, they aren't prioritizing the same thing that NHL teams do for better or worse.

Imagine telling a team with real Cup Finals equity you could add to their greatest weakness for something that might bite you 6 years down the road, butnahhh.

That'd be SOME organizational leadership.

It's one of the hottest takes I've seen yet. Feels much more of a "Oh, crap, let me see what I can Google real fast since I got called out for my take!" response than anything else.

They haven’t been rushed and their progression so far really isn’t that unusual for non elite prospects

Why wouldn't it be? Do you really think that Gorton would allow someone like McKegg to keep a better, more ready player with a high draft pedigree in the minors?

I mostly trust the coaching staff and the GM, but sometimes reality and our perception of reality from the outside can be two different things that often collide with each other. Sometimes, it is hard to make sense of that. Which is why I really hope that what SA16 said was the truth.
