Not every 19-year-old has that kind of foresight.
I mean... I just keep coming down to the fact that he was a teenager, not just away from his family, but half a world away from his family, for the first time in his life. He’s got a sense of what it’s like now. Let’s give him a chance to go back, regroup, get bigger, stronger, and better, and try again next year. Why is that so hard?

So this is relevant, Bobby Mack was just on NBCSN and was talking about Pool Party and said many people around the league felt he needs to come back to North America, play in the AHL, learn the North American game, and that playing overseas doesn’t help his development. Hmmmmm.

He’s also 2 years older than Kravtsov

Besides the fact the stages of their developments are not at all similar (which was already mentioned in the post above), the KHL is significantly better than Liiga.

VK is going to be fine. This whole thing is being overblown.

There's also that tiny difference with Puljujarvi having already played almost 150 NHL games before returning home to Liiga. It's not a good comparison at all.

How is it not a good comparison? It hurts both players’ developments by not coming over and learning the NA game. JP might be a few years older and have NHL experience but the main focus point is the same. Especially with Kravtsov. It’s gonna be the same issue next year: having to adjust. It just stalled his adjustment period.

Except that Puljujarvi was here since his D+1 season where he played almost 200 games between the AHL and NHL. His main issue is that he doesn't want to be in Edmonton's organization any longer, which is why he went back to Finland and will realistically stay there until Edmonton trades him.

The Kravtsov situation could be argued that we rushed him by signing his ELC this summer, but that's a bit two-sided since he spoke a lot about how badly he wanted to come here, play in the NHL, etc. So in his case, yes, it may actually hurt his development that he didn't stick it out in Hartford, but we won't know that until we either see him later this season or next season. And while it's not not abnormal for top Russian prospects to spend 2-3 years in the KHL before coming over directly to the NHL, the waiting game with Kravtsov is what makes his situation annoying because we only have a 5-game AHL sample to judge him. It's exactly why I hoped he would just stick the situation out.

You're discounting a HUGE difference. Amazing that you don't see it on a board where prospects & development discussions are a major component.

They are at different development stages, that’s obvious, I even said that, but the end result is still the same for both of them. They both should have stayed in the AHL instead of going back home, that’s my main point. If and when JP gets traded the main issue is going to be the same with him again. The same can and will be said with Kravtsov. Imo it’s wasted opportunities for them both. That’s my main and only point.

Even tho there is some difference bc JP had years here...the overall point still works.

If the point stands for JP it goes double for VK yet guys are acting like bc JP was here longer it means this point doesn't work for VK? Makes no sense. Wasnt JP known for refusing to learn to play a more north American style which led to his constant demotions?

Either youthink it's good for a player to acclimate to this style of hockey or you think its irrelevant or you think he needs to develop more physically and mentally b4 trying. I vote A or C

It's an interesting thought to wonder if Puljujarvi would've refused to play a more NA style or even needed to. His game might have developed in Finland during D+1 and D+2 to the point where he could more easily translate what he does to North America, as has happened with other players. Or he might have gained in maturity enough to be more open to working on it once he got here.

Which is why I don't think it's so obviously a bad thing for Kravtsov to be in Russia.

Now Traktor fans are apparently boycotting home games because of how shit they are

This move just looks better and better for Krapsov

It’s better for him to not be on that ****hole of a team

It's the ultras who are boycotting, not the common fan.

Regardless, being on a bad team is the best thing for Kravtsov. His stats will suffer, but he'll need to work harder for success. Opponents will keyed in on him.

I mean considering the crap he's taken from Ranger fans regarding his character, you'd think they'd approve of him being tested with a difficult situation in the KHL.
