Just went back and re-watched it as well. I forgot how ridiculous the two Sportsnet guys reactions were .

Brian Burke had the only even-keel analysis.

No trouble to tell which guy had actual contact with scouts and which two were literally just looking at Sportsnet's rankings and piling onto the pick.

VK's rankings were all over the place. Mostly mid to lower first round. His stock had a steady rise the last few weeks ahead of the draft. It seems there was no debate about picking him in Ranger management.

That's what Gorton said last week haha. The Rangers knew who they wanted. There was no doubt. He specifically mentioned how fans kept saying the Rangers could have selected all 3 first rounders later in the draft and that those fans were wrong. What happens on the floor at the tables doesn't reflect the rankings at all (His words).

Clarke gave an interview right after the draft and said they had him ranked the second best forward in the draft.

Yeah. And other teams were interested in him as well. I always felt this way but to hear things that actually back that up was nice. I still see people talk about Kravtsov being ranked in the 20s, but after the conversation last week I am convinced that he would have never even made it to 15.

Another thing he said was that teams know what the lists of other teams look like and that those lists differ aside from the top picks that everyone has ranked the same. The interviews teams have with players are a big part of the decision who they pick. And Kravtsov at the combine was near the top of the list in terms of the number of interviews. It was reported that he had interviews with 25 out of 31 teams.

Where was this?

Not bad for a Russian 18-year old kid. It's not nearly as good as Lundkvist's but that's to be expected considering the Swedish culture with its inclusion of the English language in society and the Swedish language itself being much closer to English than Russian is.

I think Kravtsov will be fine though. Gordie Clark had a 30-minute conversation with him post-game, and I was able to hear some of it and thought Kravtsov's English was better than other Russian players I've met.

That is nice to hear, it would be pretty difficult for him to adapt if he couldn't sustain a conversation in english, like Buchnevich.

My friend from Florida, who I surprised with a trip to Hodonin to see Kravtsov and Lundkvist, took a bunch of photos and one of them was this hahaha. During 2nd intermission, me discussing Kravtsov and Lundkvist with Gordie Clark and the dad and grandfather of Nils Lundkvist.

Gordie Clark never expected to see a Rangers fan with a Kravtsov jersey in the middle of nowhere in the Czech Republic
