Honestly, as we watch the results play out now a few months later, I'm more and more thrilled with the draft – except for Lindbom. Man, I was so ready to cheer with Wilde/Drury/Thomas still on the board...

Jake Wise is who I wanted. I would have been okay with either Olofsson or Addison.

This is what I wanted as well. Was hoping they could take Wahlstrom at 9 and then sneak in to grab Kravtsov at some point over the next 5 picks. I differed from you, however, because I wanted Wahlstrom as the consensus pick and Kravtsov as the homerun selection, so when they just went ahead and took Kravtsov, I was fine with it, figuring they probably hadn't been able to work out a deal to take them both.

I was on my way home from camping out west and was stuck in Chicago traffic when I saw they picked a goalie. I was more pissed than I had any right to be in that moment.

He just made SKA turn it over and went end to end, did his toedrag move but lost the puck

He's having a good game. I can certainly see the development throughout the season. His confidence is through the roof. If he gets a goal or assist today, he will have a 5-game point streak which is more than Panarin, Kuznetsov and Tarasenko at the same stage

I don't understand Russian but it sounds like the commentators have been talking about Kravtsov a lot

I cried like a baby for wahlstrom. I still think it’s too early to tell who’s going to be better. But there’s nothing not to like about Kravstov. He’s a stud.

I don't think so. Look at who this board (myself included) wanted on that night. I remember texting @Inferno when the Rangers were up and he and I were both freaking out that Wahlstrom was available. We thought for once we weren't going to FUBAR an easy decision. Then we did (or so we thought). Most of the board did as well, sans a few people.

Considering that Wahlstrom was the obvious pick by our armchair scouts, the paid scouts saw something different and went with Kravtsov and even though it is very early, it appears that the armchair scouts couldn't have been more wrong. I don't believe this will die any time soon. Also, the ribbing we took from Islanders fans makes it kind of hard to not celebrate this turn of events thus far.

It is a good reminder that sometimes what seems like the obvious decision, may not be the right decision. When we shy away from the norm and it doesn't work out, it doesn't mean it was the wrong move as there is more information available than we are privy to.

Bingo.

I have to ask. I'm afraid to ask. But I have to ask. Why do you have an Islander in your avatar? :skeptic:

It's cool and you certainly have a right to talk about Wahlstrom. I just think we shouldn't be concerned with others teams picks and creating some fake feud or rivalry between the two. It's the same thing with all the Dale Rolfe stuff. I'm tired of certain "themes" and negativity as it relates to the Rangers. A lot of that was from a long time ago when the rules were different and a lot of bad trades were made by cartoonish people who really had no idea what they were doing. I just hate the negativity and want to focus on the positive.

So no points I assume for him? Or did everyone get so excited about Strome they forgot about this game?

No points. CKA won 1-0 which is actually not bad for Traktor. With how dominant the 2 army teams are, losing by 1 goal on the road is not bad. Kravtsov had a good game.

Oh. Alex Nunn posted a photo of his stick last night that has his nickname on it "Krava". So that's what everyone on Twitter is calling him now. I never really used the nickname because it's a bit weird.

I honestly don't really care about the nickname. It will be something stupid anyway. NHL nicknames are always lazy. Staalsy, Stammer, Kreids, Geno, Hank etc.

Russian version of what will be his nickname once he comes over. In the typical NHL style: “KRYVie”

Do you know which is the correct spelling? Many sites say Vitali & many others say Vitaly

Виталий Кравцов

There's not really a right or wrong translation when it comes to his first name. I personally go with Vitali, because that's what was used first. But I also still type Artyom instead of Artem and Shestyorkin instead of Shesterkin.
