All joking aside, I think Kravstov is probably 2 years ahead of Wahlstrom in development right now. Not saying Wahlstrom won't turn into a good player, but we'll see the rewards of the pick much sooner.

Very generally, it doesn’t work like that. We are not making a comparison between prospects from different drafts or different age spectrum from the same draft (like Chytil compares to most prospects from 2017 draft). Unless there will be a huge developmental jump in Wahlstrom’s development soon, this difference you noting right now (in terms of years) is actually indicative of the difference in their respective ceilings.

Tippet, Wahlstrom... Teams shouldn't draft players based only on their shot.

Can we please stop the whole Kravstov vs. Whalstrom debate already and just concentrate on the prospect who is NYR property? I know the fanbase has PTSD from years of questionable picks and we always have to defend ourselves as Rangers fans because of generalizations that are years old "oh Rangers don't draft well" blah blah Dale Rolfe balh blah.

As fans we've experienced a decade of one trip to the SCF, two ECFs, a President's Trophy, and two Division titles. That was pretty darn good. This kid is pretty dynamic and might very well be part of something special soon.

It's all tongue in cheek. A response to the constant comparison which won't end any time soon.

Of course less than 6 months later Kravtsov is a stud and all others are bust.

HF boards... Andersson <<<<<<<<< Middlestat

at same time Krav >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anyone else

I have nothing but despise for Wahlstrom, Dobson and Wilde. Kravtsov was the better pick the moment we drafted him.
I want them to be good, I just want us to be better. Imagine beating the shit out of the Islanders in the playoffs for next decade, it will be a great time to be alive.

I think it's 100% possible that Wahlstrom becomes a very good goal scorer in the NHL...30-40 goals etc. It's entirely likely that Kravtsov is more of a 20-30 goal scorer in the NHL at his best. But I think if they both hit their potential that Kravtsov would be the more complete player who could put up more points and drive play by himself. He's the kind of player who controls the puck and makes plays for his linemates, guys like Wahlstrom would be. They'd probably be a great duo together

wahlstrom is a stud. he leads the nation in freshman shots on goal. they'll start going in here eventually. he's too good for them not too.

I don't understand why both can't be good and we gotta talk about how much one is better then the other. It was the same thing with Mittlesdat and Lias last year. Both can become good really players

Because people need to justify to themselves that Lias wasn't a reach

They're both top 30-35 prospects. No need to shit on one or the other

There’s a long road ahead for both of them before they reach their eventual roles in the NHL, but so far Kravtsov and Chytil are proving they were very good value picks relative to where they were drafted.

Edge mentioned it before but for many of us it’s not a familiar place to evaluate progress of high- and mid-1st round draft picks. Pretty soon though we will be able to see and compare their relative (among themselves) progress.

I definitely think that’s a possibility.

Kravtsov’s upside to me is more of a complete, overall offensive player. I suspect he’ll be more of a playmaker than a sniper, whereas Wahlstrom probably projects the opposite way.

I continue to hear the Rangers were high on Wahlstrom, so the debate probably came down to preferences rather than being a straight good/bad discussion.
