Just once, just once, can this team get some luck?

I know we didn’t have a great chance at moving up but Carolina getting into the top 3 pisses me off immensely.

Of course a shitty franchise that no one cares about jumps up. Good times.

Imagine thinking this raises red flags...

I'm sure using Ernst & Young as the auditing group is a red flag too.

I could have sworn I read earlier this week that the lottery announcement is just an announcement and the lottery itself is conducted in front of the team reps.

Now THAT is funny.
:towel: Probability is an illusion. What transpired was a consequence of the balls obeying the laws of physics, combined with the man who drew it's life being a series of deterministic electrical impulses up to that very point in time.

When you flip a coin, it's isn't a probabilistic outcome. It's a result of the force applied to the coin, with a direction, starting point, air resistance, and pattern of ground. If you recreated the physical factors exactly you would get the same result every time.

I expect plenty of things when I have good reason to. For example, I was relatively sure I was going to get the job I have now (which I love) for very little reason that gut instinct. If I hadn’t gotten it, I would’ve been disappointed.

I do not expect things I’m told I have an 81% chance of not getting. That’s pretty simple.
Fine. Club cancelled. Not disappointed, tho, never expected you to want to join.

Hey man, would you be comfortable playing powerball if they didn’t show the balls being picked out? I guess I’m just frustrated and need to blame something other than mathematical odds.

Good for Carolina. They had a 3% chance at 1st overall, 3.3% at 2nd, and 3.6% at third.

It would be nice to be lucky for a change.

Well sure. Chaos theory rules all.

Actually why I’d prefer they didn’t use physical objects, but just computers.

Correct. Teams have two reps at the draft lottery. One in the room with the actual drawing, which happens ~45 minutes before it's announced on TV, and then one in the TV studio.

MacKenzie just asked a bunch of scouts and the consensus dropoff is supposed to be around 12-13. The Rangers are likely getting a high quality player.

Which I agree with and have felt/expressed for a while.

I also think that beyond Dahlin, Svechnikov and Zadina, the talent is a lot closer than some think.

I think you can make cases for and against just about most of the 4-12 guys.

I’m also somewhat hesitant to move assets in a deeper draft when I don’t know if there’s a huge difference between say the 9th pick and the 5th or 6th.

Of course it all depends on who the Rangers love. If they have Boqvist third, and he’s there at 6, what’s it worth to them?

Fair. Add him to the list.

All depends on cost and the player available.

I’d still like to come out of the first two rounds with at least five picks.

I'm of the belief Zucc goes in a deal that brings back either Florida's or Dallas' 1st. I can also see Gorton trying to trade up from one of the late 1sts. Gorton accumulated assets to be able to target the players he wants.

Correct.

And I’m pretty certain the reason they don’t do it live is that they draw 1, then 2, then 3. So, it would screw up the presentation.

@NewYorkNick it isn’t behind closed doors. It’s in front of the people who have a stake in it.
