So looking at what we have currently as guys who played last year and who we have coming in:

Baertschi Horvat Boeser
Eriksson Sutter Virtanen
Gagner Beagle Goldobin
Leipsic Schaller Roussel

Guys on the outside:

Archibald
Gaunce
Granlund
Motte
Dowd

Prospects:

Gaudette
Pettersson
Dahlen

I don't see where our prospects are supposed to play if they have good camps.

There wasn't room for the prospects *before* these signings.

Now there doesn't even seem to be room for the young roster players. Like, where does Virtanen fit now?

This is what you get when a weak, waffling management group allows personnel input to a strong voice in Green who is allergic to playing young players.

I think there needs to be a mix of both.......Curious as to what they are going to do about the logjam up front now? I had thought Gaudette was on the team and that EP has a spot to lose.........that might not be the case any more.

A mix is desirable. Just never thought the mix would be 80/20 useless plugs vs young talent.

If it was 3yrs I would be ok with the signings but not 4. Pettersson and Hughes entry level contract would be ending in 3yrs assuming Hughes signs this year.

In 3yrs Pettersson and Hughes at least 15 M + Horvat and Boeser. That is 30 M. With one more year of Eriksson and Rousell and Beagle. Thst is 42 M on 6 players. If Luongo retires in year 2021 that is a 8 M recpature penalty against the cap. Canucks would be cap problem in 2021. Linden needs to hire Gilman back to manage the cap.

The myth continues about these two would be stealing spots from younger players. Canucks center Horvat Guadette Sutter Beagle. Don't think there is another young center in the system that deserve a spot. Rousell will most likely play with Sutter. Any young wingers wouldn't of been getting that spot anyways

I don't think it will be a huge deal this year. I expect that Granlund and Gaunce will be moved leaving Archibald and Motte as AHLer's and injury call-ups (where they should be). Looking at that roster, Gagner is the anomaly and should be the 13th forward. There will be injuries so Gaudette and Dahlen will get plenty of games.

Pettersson Gaudette Virtanen

It's really the next year and the yearafter that that are big problems. Have to expect at least a couple of Lind, Gadjovich, Palmu, Madden, to push for spots and I'm sure I'm missing a couple.

The Cap isn't the problem, the problem is that they're continuing to cram the roster full of bottom six players who can't score for the next 4 seasons. The percentage of the cap being small doesn't mean they're good investments.

I’d say the cap is a problem too. The team now has 25% of the current cap tied up for 2020/2021 in Eriksson, Sutter, Gudbranson, Beagle, and Roussel. All of these players are entering or in their decline phases. That will absolutely harm their ability to build a competitive team when their prospects should be entering their prime. These deals are absolutely awful.

I
6) some of the placeholders (i.e. Hutton, Baertschi, Goldobin, Stecher, etc.), be traded for draft picks.

Aren’t you one of the guys calling the trades for baertschi and goldobin benning s big wins as trades when the rest of us have said they were meh or worse? But now benningns big trade wins are just placeholders???

I honestly would have preferred bringing Vamnek back than these deals.

This team isn’t even going to be entertaining bad this year. Just boring, old, slow and crap.

Horvat, Boeser, Virtanen, Baertschi, Eriksson, Gagner, Sutter, Roussel, Beagle, Schaller, Pettersson, Gaudette, Leipsic, Goldobin, Granlund, Gaunce, Motte, Boucher, possibly Archibald.

They have got to be making another deal at some point.

...We are worried about bad contracts and term etc. Who cares? Not our money, and the term doesn’t matter. We aren’t competing for a cup in the next 4 years. Sign them all for 3-4 years. Let all the junk contracts like Loui , Sutter, Beagle, expire on the same year. Then make a real push. These next 4 years don’t matter.

Wait you're okay with punting FOUR ADDITIONAL YEARS?

Is there a legitimate source on that Schaller report yet?

The Beagle contract is too much term. I'm reasonably OK with the Roussel deal as he is only 28, but a four year deal for Beagle is too much. Hope for all our sakes his play doesn't fall off a cliff anytime soon.

For lineup projections next year - the only youngster who I believe management is actively penciling into the opening lineup as of now is Pettersson. Guys like Goldobin will not dress ahead of him and will still need to prove themselves at camp. Other guys like Gaudette and Dahlen will really need to blow the doors off in camp to enter the conversation, otherwise, I believe they are both earmarked to start the season in Utica and get some seasoning (Gaudette) and adjust to the North American game at a slightly better level of competition (Dahlen).

It’s about roster space and making room for upside players that might get you out of the bottom 5 at some point not plugging holes with 28-33 year old players who will only decline not improve.

You don’t seem to understand that.

Oh I understand just fine. You seem to have trouble understanding we dont play an actual game for like 3 months. Players can be dealt or waived. Also not the end of the world if they decide to load up Utica for a Calder Cup run.

Term could end up hurting us down the road. But in the immediate future, having some identity in the bottom 6 is a positive. And I have zero concerns that young players that show they are ready won't have a spot on the roster.

Goldobin and Motte start in the AHL, Gaunce and Boucher put on waivers. That's what their plan looks like.

I literally lol'd at the hyperbole of this statement..............I wouldn't expect anything less from this board though......

Hey man. Why don't you take your pointless contributions to this forum (these contracts are bad but not that bad!) and stick them up the bizarre old man ellipses you add to the end of every sentence.
