Has anyone heard any rumours on Rick Nash? For someone who was dealt for a sizeable haul at the deadline I'm surprised there's been almost nothing about where he might land. I wonder if he could be this year's Vanek?

Read the trade forum. He's considering not playing next season, probably health/concussion reasons

Damn that's too bad. Maybe a year off will help rejuvenate his career? Otherwise if he does call it quits he's got more than enough money to live a worry free life.
 
So what are these rumours I am hearing? WE aren't going to offer Bozak 6 years at 5 mill per? And it doesn't sound as if the Canucks are going to be giving out any big money contracts for term either? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???!!! All of the Doom and Gloom crowd had me convinced we were going to throw around money like $$ bills at a strip club. Could it be that *gasp.......Benning is actually improving at his job? *double gasp..............OMG - say it isn't so...........

Dreger had a few updates this morning – lots of interest, and Nash was letting clubs that he won’t be signing with know so he doesn’t interfere with their free agency plans by leading them on. Sounds like there’s lots of interest and he’ll land soon.

Also reported that Rieder has been contacted by 4 of the 7 Canadian teams, and his landing spot should be determined before July 1st arrives.

Isn’t it nice when the bar is set so low that simply not doing stupid things lets you come into this board and brag?

Not sure if Nash has changed his stance,but I do remember when he got traded from Columbus that there were no Canadian teams on his list ..(back then the Leafs,Jets were not good,and he probably didn't want to play on the West Coast).

Some day, when we have a new GM, that will be how we look back at these Dark Ages. "Hey at least he didn't salt the earth for generations to come that year! I mean he did a couple other years, but not that year!"

I don't post much on here and I'm not even really a fan/supporter of Benning but I agree with this. It's pretty much a given in any other profession that people will improve in their job over time yet for some reason if a new GM makes mistakes in his first few years, it is expected that job improvement over time is an impossibility. It is very strange to me

Edit: This was in response to Vancouver Jagger. I guess I don't know how to quote other posts :(

It definitely makes it easier yes.......But yeah it's nice to hear you admit Benning is improving at his job. At this rate and with the youth and hope we are bringing in I think everyone needs to buckle up for quite some time as with this obvious improvement in his decision making I don't see him going anywhere for a while. :cheers:

Moving from an F to a D is improving but at the end of the day it’s still failure.

Why are you more interested in Benning being the GM of this team than seeing this team actually succeed?

Won’t happen but I’d love something like Gudbranson for Lucic and Bouchard. Chiarelli gets a D that he probably overrates but takes some salary back, we eat salary on a guy Benning probably overrates, and we pick up a very good prospect for our troubles.

I don’t remember, maybe I was drinking? His trade deadline was definitely a D though, so I don’t know why you’d give him more than that.

If Benning took a 12 month vacation and did absolutely nothing it’d be an improvement. But actually hiring a good GM would be an even bigger one.

Chiarelli is known to be generous however unless he's looking for a new profession not in hockey there is no way he would ever do that. Perhaps Gubranson and other pieces but why the hell would he include his shiny new object?

Cause he isn’t getting rid of Looch’s abomination of a contract for cheap.

Plus if he thought Reinhart was worth 16 and 32 then I gotta think he views Gudbranson as a future Norris winner :laugh:

Well - Eriksson looks like he's content to simply collect a paycheck. We could bank on the fact that Lucic had a down year and this would probably also save us from overpaying for Reaves and allow us to re-sign Archibald for cheap.

At the end of the day you are trading a pylon for a pillow case........not ideal in either scenario but if we can get that floater off of our team now I would definitely be interested in exploring it.

It would not shock me if another dumb GM does allow him to move Lucic for cheap.
