Pretty much, sucks that the canucks have several years committed in term and money to guys like Sutter/Erikkson/Gagner. Would much rather give those spots to the young guys.
Or journeymen making a fraction of the money in the short term The biggest problem with them is their salaries.

Okay scratch that, in the case of Gagner and Gudbranson; those guys can't play.

Yayayayaya for you - that and $2.20 will buy you a tall coffee at Starbucks. Like I said - this whole situation reminds me of my brother for some reason.............(feel free to read my last comments regarding him).
Do you think he'd be disparaging Mr Aquilini if he didn't have some insider connection? I sure hope not.

I probably know a lot more about him than you think - I respect success. I tend to put a tinnnnnny bit more validity in people who are at the top of the food chain. It's kind of like my broke brother trying to give me tips on how to run my businesses. I mean it's nice and he does read a lot of business books but there's a huge difference between theory and practice.

But hey - if you want to value the opinion of people who play beer league hockey 2 x a week and spend 3 hours a day on HFB all the power to you now.
This line of thinking is literally what people define as sheep.

If you validate intelligence by wealth, then I’m not surprised at the conclusions you come to.

Marginalizing people’s opinions because of their financial status instead of their opinion and how they came to that conclusion is the reason why most of North America is in the mess that it’s in.

But continue idolizing slum lords and dictators because they have money.

Ok - seeing Aquilini walking into the Nash gym on Granville street a few months ago doesn't exactly count as "insider connections" - however I'm wiling to admit that he probably thinks he has an insider connection - does that work?

Ok I'll leave you to it..........continue on yelling at the wall.........the wall doesn't feel like yelling back any more and I'm not super motivated to prove you wrong or argue as it's all mental *********ion at this point. As you were........

#IsenseayeahIgothimcomment
Please stop using hashtags. It's cringey.

I think we are getting off topic - this is a Canucks free agency thread. Perhaps we should get back on track? I could go into a whole diatribe clarifying your comments however unlike others I'm not that motivated to prove that I am right and can live with the fact that you and many others on this board probably don't see it that way. Ultimately I tend to respect succcess and put a tinnnnnnny bit more validity in people whose job it is to make hockey decisions and do this for a living (and most likely have years of experience doing so).

But hey - if you have differences of opinion there's nothing wrong with that - I will somehow struggle on knowing that we have different schools of thought on various issues.

Just sad. the thread has deteriorated into ... well this.

sorry, wealth is not an indication of ability or intelligence. Hence donald trump.

You wonder sometimes if the Canucks organization bothers to monitor these sites, and have people jump in to sway the opinion, much like Russian and the GOP in the last US election. If there is a owned pawn in these discussions, Vancouver Jagger is the epitome of it.

I liked gillis. I had an inside connection to the orginization. He said Gillis was well liked, and that Aqua man was a slime ball. Nothing seems to have changed.

I know Y2K. He is better informed than most on this site. I disagree with some of his positions. (for example his dislike for the Sedins). But at least he generally uses logic rather than hyperbole in had rationale.

Soi what do you think of my sign Brandon Pirri for center depth suggestion? Yeah or nay?

*sigh - I know a lot about Aquilini's personal life and yeah it's not at all pretty. I think you missed my point entirely however as i just wrote I'm not here to get along and I don't feel the need to clarify all of your mistaken assumptions as I get the sense that won't stop you from making them. At this point your opinion means about as much to me as the mosquito I just swatted at so I'll just leave you to it here.

As you were Sir.........Me and my paycheck from Aquaman shall retire for the time being. Enjoy..........

Man, I would love to get a beer and talk hockey with you at a Canucks game this season. I wonder if you would put down others you don't disagree with and prop up people with money in person.

Name a game, I'll be there if you want.

1. My mistaken assumptions? All I said was you resemble a Canucks apologist. You don't care about my opinion but you dismiss me. Great.

2. As many who know me (I have played hockey with and met 20 or so people in person from this site) could tell you, I have been a family season ticket holder for 49 years. I know people who are very rich ( I am not) and I retired when I was 53. I owe nothing to anyone.

3. So feel to actually discuss the issues which I will do with some interest, or condenscendingly walk away pretending you have taken the high road. I don't care either.

TB is going for Tavares and said they are re-signing Callahan. With Miller extended, they could be in a cap funk. They got a surplus of centres, Stamkos, Point, Johnson, Paquette, Cirelli, and potentially Tavares.

I would look at Johnson for the right price, but I would trade quite a bit more for Point. Cirelli would be a good acquisition, should be cheaper than Johnson.

Thank you for getting back on topic. He would not be my first choice. He's a very streaky scorer that from my limited knowledge can disappear for stretches. Not sure how good his compete level is either. Right now we have Bo, Sutter and a bunch of question marks at center. I think we need to buck up a bit and invest a bit more in someone who at least has some hope of being a second line center - or can at least fill in adequately in that position til EP or Gaudette takes that job over.

I judge success by the wideness of a smile.

The Canucks were one of the worst possession teams in the NHL last year, we have to many small forwards that have a tough time maintaining possession and as a result our D is getting pounded constantly, hence all the injuries on the back end over the last few years. If the Canucks sign a ufa hopefully it’s someone with size speed and grit. I wouldn’t mind signing a guy like Beagle to give us some much needed stability.

Sure PM me and glad to meet in person and enjoy a game. I'm not some keyboard warrior who's afraid to back up what he says - nor am I going to be anything but real. I really only have an issue with people who reek of negativity - as long as you aren't of that ilk we will get along fine. If you are and every second word out of your mouth is something negative i will politely decline your request. PM me and glad to do so. :thumbu:

This is a deal. Flyers on December 15th and I'll buy you a beer during an intermission. Or another game sooner if you want. And no, not everything is negative. But the reality is a strong majority of the transactions under this regime have been negative so, I don't know why you'd expect anything else.

I am not negative. I actually think the Canucks will be competitive the year after next. Benning has been horrible at trades, and signing reasonable contracts. He has made a number of good and bad draft choices. Full credit on Pettersson, Gaudette and Demko. Hughes appears to have a great future, but he was a faller. Time will tell whether of the 4 obvious D that were available, he was the best choice. Heres hoping. I think we are actually in pretty good shape for a long period.

It is not negative to say that Benning is pretty bad at his job. And so is Lindin. And that Aquilini is a privileged scummy owner. Heck, while in a totally different tier I grew up in West Van and have lived a pretty nice life, probably better than I deserved ... (for example, played Cap yesterday, birdied the 17th then had a great dinner on the deck, thanks Kim) .

The point being is that "negativity" may be justified.
