are there any details on the ntc terms? i looked and can't find any and tbh i am way too far behind to read the whole thing.

also, just looking at the stats and none of these three guys were drafted. add in stecher and tanev and 5 undrafted roster players has got to be some kind of record.

And is that a result of signing bottom six forwards to these kind of contracts or is it because we were left with a barren wasteland for a prospect pool and a bunch of ageing veterans who were impossible to ship out of town?
You do realize this is now Benning and Linden's team don't you???????

IMO Beagle is a good candidate to age well.

He seemingly takes good care of himself. He doesn't have ultra high minutes played. He doesn't play a crazy physical game. He's stayed relatively healthy over the years, and he doesn't seem to have lost a step yet.

does he get injured though. until the last 2 years he had never exceeded 62 games in an nhl season?

It’s both but the more important to dissect is the role of the present GM in this, not the guy who was already fired for his failings. Maybe Benning’s inability to acquire any NHL talent outside of the draft plays a role in this.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets got Riley Nash for 3 years @ $2.75M AAV.

Nash is from BC. He grew up in Kamloops, and played his junior hockey in the BCHL.

We had to overpay (term and salary) to convince Beagle and Roussel to sign with us.

However... Given Nash's BC connections, I suspect he probably would have taken that same 3 year and $2.75M AAV contract offer from us to be closer to family and friends.

I think he might have considered $4X4 to come to the tire fire on the coast. Possible, but not really likely imo.

I like Beagle okay, but we way overpaid and overtermed.

Roussel I think can actually earn his paycheque... but I think we could have got him cheaper.

Personally, I would have been happier with neither.

All in all, just more proof that Jim and FA's don't mix.

Limited no trade was all the rage today it seems. Details to follow.

so within the last three years?

thanks. low mileage at least.

don't mind the negativity over here. he seems like a good player. we are just having trouble comprehending the 4 year term buyout proof ntc protected contract for a 33 year old fourth liner.
Yeah...people are thinking management should actually manage. What a concept!!!

You suspect Nash would have taken the same to be on a garbage team? You are a dreamer! Also, he sucks! It would be foolish to overpay for a plug coming off a career year playing w all stars. Not defending the Canucks signings At all but get real

Who were we actually unable to ship out of town?

Kessler burrows Hansen Bieksa garrison all were traded hamhuis should have been. Higgins?

So Tobias Reider will sign a 1 year deal for $2M in Edmonton, or Brodziak 2 years $2.3M total, but it would take a multi-year $10+M contract to have convinced them to come to Vancouver?

It should be pretty simple. These bottom tier players are going to make relatively little, they need to sign for as much term and $$$ as they can get when they can get it. Just using the Edmonton two for example look at the gap from what they got to what we paid Beagle and Roussel, and we should have been able to snatch them away for anything inbetween.

Tobias Reider was guaranteed 2nd line time with Draisaitl and knows him (making way for the next contract).

Brodziak is from Alberta, has been there before, and is 2 years older than even Beagle.

If the Canucks had offered 3 years $2 mil for either of these guys it would be matched in a heartbeat, they could have just stayed were they were.

Looks like we have an NHL insider here.
