Happens all the time in sports. Herb Brooks brought in a lot of his 1980 Olympic guys on the Rangers (Pavelich, Silk, McLannahan), Torts brought in Fedotenko/Prospal. I even remember Dan Reeves bringing in his kicker David Treadwell.

I don't think i can appropriately analyze the giants move bc I was desperate for them to let Darnold fall to the Jets.

That said, barkley is the rare breed of player fans, GMs and teammates fantasize about adding to the team bc he is that good.

You can draft a Qb in the first round sometime in the next two seasons.

That said, the choice the Giants made is WORLDS easier in my mind if Darnold isn't there. But Darnold was there, so i'm not confident they chose the player who can help the team the most going forward.

Maybe have SB helps a rookie QB or a Webb two seasons from now so that the young QB can grow into the role just like how ELi had Tiki. There are a ton of reasons to like the SB pick for now and the future.

But again, Jet bias made me root for that outcome too

Average ones maybe not but good ones definitely do. Espeically when your team builds around it like Cowgirls and Zeke.

As for the second part...really? Do you understand how unlikely it is that any of these QB's pan out as franchise or top starters? They most likely will be 'awful'. Obviously the giants didn't see any of them (perhaps except Mayfield) as 'the guy' for the future.

The likely scenario by far is not that they will all be awful.

Unless Barkley sucks (or Eli is SO bad that his corpse is completely immobile), that means that you're out of the range of the elite prospects and will have to trade SIGNIFICANT draft capital to move up or take a chance on a middling prospect.

A good recipe for QB hell.

Tyree Jackson

Eli's got two years left. We'll nab Jackson in 2020 after taking Anthony Johnson (WR - Buffalo) next year.

Don't worry. It'll work.

The Jets finally got their guy. Management needs to get him some help over the next few years. The Jets basically need everything on the offensive side of the ball. Offensive line. WR. RB. TE. They still have their #1 next season. They will have a lot of cap flexibility next season.

According to Daniel Jeremiah,Darnold is the best QB in the last 3 drafts.

Hopefully, the Rangers can get their guy tomorrow by moving up in the lottery.

Based upon last night’s results, the Rangers get their man at 3 because the team at 2 picked the wrong player. So, Svechnikov it is.

Montreal wins two and takes Tkachuk

That would be the GOAT scenario after getting Dahlin

Darnold is exactly who I wanted. He's got the chance to be an elite QB. Worst case, it seems like he is a starting QB. He has all the tools. He's also mobile. Not just "Big QB" mobile, but the guy can actually move.

As for the need to acquire weapons, they do need to upgrade parts of the OL, but there is a foundation of players on offense.

Kearse is a good WR. Need to see how Enunwa looks after his neck injury. Anderson cannot be relied on until he cleans up his act. Powell and Crowell are a strong RB tandem. Wouldn't surprise me if they draft one later in this draft. Still in search of a real TE. Losing ASJ hurt. As poor as the team has had QBs, finding a reliable TE has been the next biggest issue the Jets have never been able to solve.

Darnold being a good QB will address some of the weapons concerns. If McCown was able to perform with these type of players, and put up some very good numbers, they don't need to add much. Depending on what shakes out in FA, they should be in the market for one of the top receivers in next year's draft.

The Steelers have the best WR in the league, arguably the best RB in the league, a better QB than the Giants and a better O Line and they still can’t win it all.

All the Giants did by drafting Saquon is make themselves an 8-8 team. They are certainly not better than the Eagles and not better than the Cowboys. Shortsighted move. I’m excited to see Barkley in the NFL, but that’s all I can say.

you know for everyone crying about never getting a shot at a QB again and blowing it by taking the bpa in barkley, find me a team outside of san diego and probably the pats that will need to draft a franchise QB in the next two seasons? you're going to have a hard time finding a team that doesn't love their guy right now. the word is sand diego or the pats are probably taking the best two qbs left in the draft in the second round too so they may not even be very interested in grabbing another one in the first two rounds.

this is a very unique time in the NFL. almost every team has a guy that they love right now. If Eli blows it this year then we'll probably be drafting in the top 15 again and most certainly will have a shot at a top qb either this next year or in 2020.

The Redskins, who will possibly have a better pick than NY in 2019. I bet they get Smith’s successor next year. Then every NFC East team will have a young franchise QB except for the Giants. Great recipe for success.

you named one team. and that's a big time maybe. if eli is as bad as everyone is saying then no way redskins finish below us. any other teams you can think of in the next two years that don't have a franchise qb or didn't just draft one that they love in the last year?

Dolphins when Tannehill sucks again.

Bengals since they are fed up with Dalton.

The Jags since they might get fed up with Bortles.

Broncos.

Saints to replace Brees.

Lots of possibilities. Some of these young QBs might end up disappointing too. The point is you have the #2 pick and a 37 year old QB, you need to draft the guy for the future.
