It’s like if AV gets hired somewhere and immediately re-signs Glass for like $2.5M a year.
I mean, yes, exactly. That's exactly what happened here. Glass getting that three year deal, and even the PTO to Lapierre. It’s like if AV gets hired somewhere and immediately re-signs Glass for like $2.5M a year.
Yep. It's a generally accepted pitfall.Happens all the time in sports. Herb Brooks brought in a lot of his 1980 Olympic guys on the Rangers (Pavelich, Silk, McLannahan), Torts brought in Fedotenko/Prospal. I even remember Dan Reeves bringing in his kicker David Treadwell.
Average ones maybe not but good ones definitely do. Espeically when your team builds around it like Cowgirls and Zeke.
As for the second part...really? Do you understand how unlikely it is that any of these QB's pan out as franchise or top starters? They most likely will be 'awful'. Obviously the giants didn't see any of them (perhaps except Mayfield) as 'the guy' for the future.
That was like a Beacon postThe likely scenario by far is not that they will all be awful.
But we clearly can't take any risk. Ever. No franchise has ever won by taking any risk. Ever. The likely scenario by far is not that they will all be awful.

“There’s a better chance these guys don’t turn into pros so might as well say they all suck”
I don't think i can appropriately analyze the giants move bc I was desperate for them to let Darnold fall to the Jets.
That said, barkley is the rare breed of player fans, GMs and teammates fantasize about adding to the team bc he is that good.
You can draft a Qb in the first round sometime in the next two seasons.
That said, the choice the Giants made is WORLDS easier in my mind if Darnold isn't there. But Darnold was there, so i'm not confident they chose the player who can help the team the most going forward.
Maybe have SB helps a rookie QB or a Webb two seasons from now so that the young QB can grow into the role just like how ELi had Tiki. There are a ton of reasons to like the SB pick for now and the future.
But again, Jet bias made me root for that outcome too
Tyree JacksonUnless Barkley sucks (or Eli is SO bad that his corpse is completely immobile), that means that you're out of the range of the elite prospects and will have to trade SIGNIFICANT draft capital to move up or take a chance on a middling prospect.
A good recipe for QB hell.
The Jets finally got their guy. Management needs to get him some help over the next few years. The Jets basically need everything on the offensive side of the ball. Offensive line. WR. RB. TE. They still have their #1 next season. They will have a lot of cap flexibility next season.
According to Daniel Jeremiah,Darnold is the best QB in the last 3 drafts.
Hopefully, the Rangers can get their guy tomorrow by moving up in the lottery.
Montreal wins two and takes TkachukBased upon last night’s results, the Rangers get their man at 3 because the team at 2 picked the wrong player. So, Svechnikov it is.
you know for everyone crying about never getting a shot at a QB again and blowing it by taking the bpa in barkley, find me a team outside of san diego and probably the pats that will need to draft a franchise QB in the next two seasons? you're going to have a hard time finding a team that doesn't love their guy right now. the word is sand diego or the pats are probably taking the best two qbs left in the draft in the second round too so they may not even be very interested in grabbing another one in the first two rounds.
this is a very unique time in the NFL. almost every team has a guy that they love right now. If Eli blows it this year then we'll probably be drafting in the top 15 again and most certainly will have a shot at a top qb either this next year or in 2020.
The Redskins, who will possibly have a better pick than NY in 2019. I bet they get Smith’s successor next year. Then every NFC East team will have a young franchise QB except for the Giants. Great recipe for success.
Giants NEED to snag Hernandez.
you named one team. and that's a big time maybe. if eli is as bad as everyone is saying then no way redskins finish below us. any other teams you can think of in the next two years that don't have a franchise qb or didn't just draft one that they love in the last year?
