Vilardi wasn't a risk? Who is the crazy talent they've passed on over the years? Tarasenko, yes. Point, but many teams passed on him. Go through the drafts though. There aren't that many players with actual NHL talent that they said no to. They haven't had a top 5 pick since 2009, and Blake hasn't had a pick higher than 11. We don't know what player he'll take, of the guys that are available to him.

Not sure where this risk aversion thing is coming from, half the players people bitch about were drafted as projects, not 'safe' guys. Lewis was coming out of an untraditional league as a really high scorer but with Okposo glued to him. Forbort was a long-term project with high upside. Hickey was a swing. Schenn's "big game" mojo was questioned as he feasted on weak teams. People are just making shit up to be mad about at this point.

The Kings drafted several players and won twice. The Kings would have won twice with Giroux, who they should have drafted or any other forward. Appreciate what Lewis brings but the didn't win 2 Cups because of him.

His point is you don’t win cups drafting Lewis’s in the first round. Yes we won two cups and Lewis played a role being a decent supporting cast on the bottom 6.

We had to acquire so many top 6 players because we didn’t draft well in terms of getting top 6 talent in the first round or essentially any round. Kings can’t afford to draft Pearson’s, Toffoli’s, and Lewis’s at this point.

Who is a top 9 tweener? Not Turcotte, Cozens or Dach. All 3 of those guys are closer to Top 3 than 3rd line. Not saying that they will be but none of those guys will be playing any lower than as a impact player in the Top 6.

It can be argued that Zegras and Krebs are at least in the same conversation. The top 10 is loaded with forwards that are expected to be very good and as usual, some will be great.
