Hey now, there are still guys playing in the NHL who are older than me.

The herd is getting rather thin, and more closely resembles a small group of friends going out for drinks on a Friday night, but it's still a thing.

So go throw a boomerang at a kangaroo you bully!

I hope he misses.

I was concerned the Tweet would be a tirade to put the Stars organization to shame.

This board would lose its collective mind.

They’d have to bring back retired mods to restore order.

Lifetime bans would be given.

Jas would be the only one left. Just him and Bern.

The calm ones.

Joey, why would you post this and risk all of that?

You’re being very selfish.

Fixed it for you.

Gorton should be fleecing the Oilers of their first round pick and Puljujarvi right now. That guy is beyond desperate to save his job by making the playoffs. He's going to get fired if they don't miss the playoffs and he knows it.

How do you propose he does this? Call Edmonton up and demand that they give up their first round pick?

Also, what is the big deal about Puljujarvi? What am I missing?

Tarmo was -1 today, but he did have 6 shots and play almost 30 f***ing minutes (29:54). Not an OT game, either. He just played half the damn game.

Pajuniemi had 3 shots and played 13:19 on the second line. Good that Finland is still in the WJC--keep Kakko in North America as long as possible, for Paju's sake.

Edmonton could use any 2 of the following. Pionk, DeAngelo, Namestnikov, Buchnevich, Skjei or Zucc. Cap is some issue for them but not unworkable. They have a desperate GM. You can't worry about draft picks when you have Connor McDavid. It's absurd that they aren't winning more. They need to fill out their roster with proven pieces. IMO, if it took Buchnevich, Pionk and Namestnikov for Edmonton's first and Puljujarvi it's worth the risk for a rebuilding team. Edmonton can't miss the playoffs again. That is totally unacceptable. The teams ahead of them for the wild care are hardly that impressive. The last thing any Edmonton Oiler fan or person in the organization should care about is a first round draft pick when you have Connor McDavid. That's a loser mentality.

What is this obsession with Puljujarvi? People complain about Lias, but want us to add this guy? I don't get it.

I'm not against giving Puljujarvi a shot but he's not a player I'd particularly target in a trade. I suspect he's closing in on a time when the Oilers just give him away for practically nothing--for instance he'll be claimed on waivers by another team. He should be doing much, much better. Would I trade Pionk or Skjei for him?---absolutely not. I wouldn't trade DeAngelo, Zucc, Names or Buch for him either.

Hypothetically speaking; if the best trade offers for Zuc turns out to be PoolParty and the Islanders 3rd or the generic 2nd rounder plus B prospect (another LHD or grinder) from another team what do you do?

It's obvious that the marriage is coming to an end.

You take the best offer and move on.

EDIT - Just realizing that I misread the post.

In that case, I'd probably take the Edmonton deal.

I'd take a punt on PoolParty.

Yeah, whatever the best offer is, you have to take it. Otherwise he walks for nothing at all.

Maybe you should look for the hockey site where all the 'real' scouts are posting. Tell us when you find it--I'd like to check it out too.

But really anyone who has followed the NHL draft for any length of time should understand that when you draft 18 year olds that a lot of **** can happen and sometimes they're just not going to work out as expected....just like anyone knows that sending an 18 year old off to college--no matter how high his/her grades doesn't always mean they're going to have their noses in their books 24/7 or that they'll graduate 4/5 years later or even get a good job. 18 years old might qualify as an adult under the c2riminal code but doesn't necessarily qualify as mature.
I don't think it was about the draft, I think he was using the fact that I unwittingly kept repeating "problem is" and I guess he disagreed. It was about d-men... no scout, though I admittedly WAS a dick when I started posting here, when I was 18.

I'd take a punt on PoolParty.

If we're at the second/third round pick and a b-level prospect stage, I'd consider it.

The B prospect might be safer at this point, depending on who we're talking about, but I'd probably go for the upside.

Having said all that, he would not be a target I would initially set.

In terms of a trade value PoolParty is about near the territory of a younger Strome but not yet the older.
