In terms of a trade value PoolParty is about near the territory of a younger Strome but not yet the older.
The other thing Paljujarvi has going for him is he's still technically waivers-exempt and on his ELC, so he should be pretty cheap and controllable for a few more seasons. I would not want him as a primary part of a trade, but maybe a secondary or tertiary piece.

Again, you're not seeming to grasp the situation of the GM. HE'S GOING TO GET FIRED IF HE DOESN'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS! I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about his first round pick right now considering he won't be around to use it if they don't make the playoffs. If you give McDavid and kind of supporting cast up front and on D, they will make the playoffs. If you trade them that with the other deals they just made, their pick won't be near a top 10. Oilers ownership has no clue. If they did, they wouldn't have sucked for the past 10 years with all the top picks they have had.

The season of prospect redemption continues
Lakatos will be tough. We have to sign him this summer. His D+1 season was pretty disappointing, complete with attitude problems, his coach calling him out, and a brief demotion. His D+2 season started with him on the fourth line, which is not where a legitimate NHL prospect should be in the relatively weak Czech League, and another demotion. Now approaching 22, he's posting some decent numbers. Problem is, even though he's still 21, doing "pretty good" in that league might not be good enough. He'll have to keep up the production and really wow the scouts if he's going to get a deal from us. Personally, I would guess the odds are against it, just based on his production and what has transpired since we drafted him. Who knows, though. Maybe Liberec was just a really bad place for him.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised one way or the other with signing him, but at least that’s already better than thinking he’s not getting one at all

What is rykovs upside in nhl? #3 dman? His numbers in khl arent that impressive this year.

Any chance he comes to nhl soon?

Barron has 2A. The first a primary on a takeaway and quick pass to the front of the net. The second was a drive to the net from the corner and a shot that caromed luckily to another Cornell player who passed for the goal.
Nuttle and Bauld are credited with assists on the second goal. Do you think that's incorrect?

Rykov’s pretty good defensively, I’d say his ceiling is a solid middle pairing guy, one of our more under appreciated prospects

Also, here’s this

Honestly not sure. It was initially given to Barron because he shot it and it seemed to bounce out to Nuttle. It certainly plausible Bauld passed it out because the angle they showed was garbage.

Edit: Either way he got 1 and otherwise made a lot of nice plays using his size driving to the net. Looked a bit like old engaged Nash on some plays but wasn't consistent enough.

Was Barron too old for the WJC this year? I feel like he could hold his own.

If not, I’m surprised he didn’t even get a sniff last year.

Keane has seen re-energized since his trade.

He’s a smart player, so I’d look beyond just the numbers with a guy like him. But it’s still nice to see it reflected in his play and in the box score.

I was at the Princeton/Cornell game last night and tried to gather impressions of Barron as best I could from, as it turned out, the extreme far side of the rink from where Cornell popped in the two that he assisted on. I'd have to say I felt like I caught a mild whiff of prima donna. He's got real good size, apparent strength, smarts positioning himself in the offensive zone. Skating seemed perhaps above average; fluid but nothing remarkable. What concerned me a little was that he seemed to dangle a bit, didn't get his nose too dirty digging for pucks, and always seemed to be the first guy off for a change like he couldn't wait to get off. Have to say it was a tough spot to see a lot from though... second row just above the faceoff dot so one side of the rink was challenging to see properly. Could have missed some magic here and there.

With the exception of games against Harvard, it's usually easy to get good seats at Baker rink, next time sit behind the penalty boxes, you'll easily see the whole rink.

I waited too long for tickets this time, place was mobbed... the crowd was about 75% "Big Red", and damn obnoxious about it. Felt like being an Islander fan in the early days of the Coliseum. :)
I will not apologize for the ferocity of our enthusiasm or Princeton's lack thereof.

As for the Barron stuff, I think he's developing well. The second period was not nearly as good (when you would've seen him better) and he had some real passenger moments but there were shifts in the first where he looked like the best player on the ice including Veronneau who's one of the top UDFA guys and a Hobey candidate. I just think it's tough for power forward types to play a full game that way. I will say he's much more engaged on the boards and in the corners than he was last year. He seems to realize he's 6'2 200lbs and can do some damage which is nice.

I don't understood the shift length thing either. Changing is all about timing and context and if he's in the corner forechecking why wouldn't he be tired, change, and allow a fresh guy to get on? You don' have to have a Kovalev shfit to be effective.

It becomes more and more important as you go up levels in hockey to be aware of your shift lengths. Your complaint on that doesn't seem well founded to me. It may just be that his linemates overstay their time on the ice but making sure you get off and on clean and aren't caught out on the ice and gassed is what a responsible and well schooled player will do.

It does remind me of Nash sometimes when Barron can seemingly get off early but then you continue watching and it's another 30-45 seconds before another chance at a change and you go "Oh yeah that was a smart idea."
