Solid deal. Take a look through the list of other UFA potential 1Bs and you'll find a whole lot of guys who are significantly worse players (Georgiev, Vanacek, Forsberg, Rittich, Samsonov, etc.) or guys who probably get the same if not larger deals (Hill, Vladar, Vejmelka, Andersen).

It’s a little high for the individual, but the tandem price overall for 2 guys you feel pretty good about night to night vs say a Sammy/VV type combo is just fine.

Could be that Charlie and Logan really lean on each other and it’s worth the slight overpay for that type of synergy.

There is zero “ready” youth in the system that these moves are holding back.

Rising cap makes this a pretty sweet deal, especially when you consider the total price for LT and Chuckie.

Also makes me think they don’t have a ton of faith in any goaltender in the system, or at least not to the extent that they think any of the young guys are ready to be full time with the big club any time soon. I have a feeling they take a goalie either in the first or with one of their two second rounders (if they still have them after the deadline).

Timing of the announcement is also interesting given its trade deadline week. Wonder if they told Lindgren’s camp they’d been fielding calls on him and wanted his commitment moving forward in order to keep him for the rest of the year, even if it was a bluff.

Seems like a fine deal, provided that there is a contract-termination provision if Lindgren ever attempts a poke-check again.
A lot of NHL goalies suck at executing the goalie stick poke-check! It's a bit of a lost art because the goaltending technique/mentality has changed.

They likely arent ”high” on Stevenson or the rest of the bunch, but i wouldnt say its necessarily a statement in that direction.

Propably just see it as a ”positive problem” if someone from the system makes a push to challenge Lindgren. Burying Lindgren and bringing ”Stevenson” up adds to the same amount of cap anyways - would just mean whoever comes up needs to be actually better.

+ this contract is semi easy to trade or buyout if it doesnt work out the way it is supposed.

With the cap space we have this is very low risk to stabilize a good thing this tandem has going.

He could even go to Hershey if things go really bad.

The big appeal of the Thompson / Lindgren tandem was the insane cost efficiency. Now that that's gone, we'll see how far 'good vibes' gets them.

I don't think highly of Lindgren, but he's at least a lot better than Samsonov was... it's all about perspective.

Until Lindgren proves otherwise, I still think he hit his peak numbers last season and won't reach those numbers again.
