Rumor: 2018-19 Kings News/Rumors/Tidbits

I'm gonna pass on some information to the Kings and their players. There is a new type of healthcare out there and it is called a chiropractor. When your back or neck hurt you go to this person and they will use their black magic on you and make you all better. Hopefully my previous mentions of an MRI machine and what it does has made it to Dave Taylor.

SO now we know why Vilardi was passed over at the draft, has to be because of his back. Hope he can get it taken care of, and have it heal properly. There's no need to rush the kid back into action.

Damn guys, the Kings could have had Max Pacioretty AND Shea Weber. All it would have cost the Kings is Drew Doughty. E5.
Breaking: Blockbuster trade between the Kings and Canadiens has fallen apart!

That is probably the worst I've ever reported by a an actual member of the media. Weber probably has negative value at this point when you factor in age, salary and on-ice performance.

If the Kings were to entertain the thought of moving a signed in his prime Doughty they would be able to get a hell of a lot more than Patches and Weber.

So Walsh said the deal was done with LA, and Patches declined to sign the extension is why it fell apart? Did Patches ask for too much or was the Kings offer too low? My guess was he wanted 6 plus if not more.

Probably believes he's worth more than 6 per based on recent comps, and probably didn't like that a network of friends--Luc <-> Brisson <-> Bergevin--put him in that position

Yeah, this was a total abortion of a deal and of reporting. And it wasn't just Doughty...it was Doughty PLUS another asset

No wonder that patches thread has devolved so much with garbagemen like that spinning tales

The Kings should look into Pacioretty at the deadline. I think it's very unlikely that all of Kovalchuk, Brown, Toffoli and Pearson work out this season, and who knows what the Kings get from Vilardi. The Kings will very likely be looking for help on the wing and he will be the best one available, if he doesn't re-sign there.

Edit:

Didn't realize there may be some lingering bad blood feelings between Patches and Kings management. The Kings will probably have to look elsewhere.

Yeah seems that he fired Brisson over this right? Like he did realize it was around/at the draft and there were time constraints right? I'm pretty sure he'll get 6 on the open market like the supposed offer here but I dont think he'll get the 6 years.

Athletic did a ranking of all the NHL teams and I feel like they nailed the Kings haha...all over the map.

This team is fascinating. They’re going to be a mess in a couple years. They’re a bit old and slow. But there’s still a Stanley Cup DNA, a lot of talent in the right positions and a complete wild card in Ilya Kovalchuk.
“And with (Jonathan) Quick in goal, they’re hard to play against,” the player said. “They’re big. Kovalchuk is another threat. I’m not 100 percent sold, but you have (Drew) Doughty back there who can play 30 minutes and it doesn’t faze him. And the resurgence of Dustin Brown, we’ll see if he can do it again. I know he’s pissed off about losing the captaincy, maybe that sparked him. (Anze) Kopitar. Brown. (Jeff) Carter. Kovalchuk. You can’t say they’re going to be a bad team.”

Said the coach: “They could win the division. They could finish sixth.
”"

"They could win the division...they could finish sixth" about covers it

"they're going to be a mess in a couple of years" - too hard to speculate. It's entirely possible that 'in a few years' the Kings are indeed a borderline playoff team and
then move contracts like: (I do not know each or any NPA clauses, though) Kopitar, Quick, Carter, (although he'll be pretty old) and even Doughty (to one of the teams on his list)
Any of those 4 will return something valuable for certain. Doughty alone, would return 3 valuable assets, or 2 top assets.
It's also a possibility that Cal Petersen will be a great goalie and just step in, in another year or 2. If Kempe, Vilardi ,
JAD, Clague, Brickley and Kupari all come close or surpass expectations, the Kings will be fine.

Let's cross that bridge when we get to it.

What would your definition of working out be for those 4?

I fully agree. I also left out Akil Thomas. I even think Mikey Anderson may be a diamond in the rough...I am not worried about 'post Doughty, Kopitar, Quick', as Blake has done a great job in less than 2 full years, adding: Iafallo, Petersen, Brickley, Vilardi, JAD, Kupari, Thomas, etc. Strand, Kehler, and Rempal may even pan out. Shaffigulen (sp) could be a gem.
If he can keep drafting 2 gems each draft and signing 2-3 college / CHL free agents each year...And add a Kovalchuk via FA to fill a hole. Will be fine.

You know that pretty much sums up the top 4 or 5 teams in the pac division. I still think most of the media has their heads up their collective asses when it come to team speed. It's like either you're a fast team [Vegas] or slow, [everyone else]. There is no in between. McDavid is the fastest player on the planet, yet the Oiler are probably the one of the slowest.

Man I forgot we had a young Robert Lang, he turned out ok. Had no clue Brathwaite attended camp for us too. Guess he was no match against the likes of Hrudey and Stauber...

There's been a few good trivia questions you could make of former Kings camp attendees like David Clarkson, or guys who you didn't even know were Kings property for a cup of coffee, like Brian Lawton.
