Fun drive for the boys. Ontario to LA is a breeze.

They certainly save on gas when it comes to making call ups, but those gameday trips will be brutal if they practice then bus on over to Ontario.

I wonder if this means Reign camp remains in El Segundo. I know the Sharks have a similar setup with their AHL team practicing in the same facility, but they also benefit from having their AHL team also play in San Jose.

But he only dropped because of the "new" NHL.

That size and skill will always have a place in the league. It's a red flag when a guy has injuries, fluke or not, and then can't do all the testing at the combine.

You can wait to be concerned, but I've already been there since this first came up a few weeks ago. You shouldn't be having flare ups on a back injury that was supposed to be behind you 8 months ago.

Pretty big long shot I would think for JAD to make this squad. Maybe if Vilardi can't go....but otherwise, I don't see it. He'll push and be a late cut because they want him to get the experience in camp.

Curious to know the context of this.

Hasn't appeared in a preseason game yet and this is already starting to feel like the Jason Allison saga all over again. Let's hope they don't announce he'll be ready by Christmas, then we may never see him ever again.

Yeah I had a bad feeling but now it seems like it's a legit problem.

Welp, I admit to being completely wrong about Vilardi's back then. That is very, very troubling. Especially at that age and without playing an NHL season. I'm sure they'll limit his exposure and do it right but that also means we need to stop penciling him in.

...which is kind of surprising even in light of the previous stuff re: Vilardi. JAD was VERY surprising even last year, I was convinced age alone kept him away from getting a 9-gamer. I figured he'd get a few games this year, but that quote reads like it may be more...but in whose spot?? We're loaded with guys who need to shit or get off the pot, including Brodz, Amadio...

He's not even 20 and he has the back of a geriatric. Awful. He's barely been healthy. What a disappointment so far. I've been very positive about his injury but man this kind of leaves no room for positivity.

This really sucks! And it probably isn't going to end well, lingering back issues at 19, yeah sounds about as bad as possible.

I was really hoping he was going to add an element to a 3rd line and maybe push guys like TT and TP out the door if they played like they did last season.

With Vilardi being replaced by Lewis on the 3rd line and Lewis likely being replaced by Brodzinski the Kings bottom six and overall talent on the wing just took a hit.

Not that he's an answer to anything, but this might be a reason they invited Etem to camp. If Vilardi can't go, that pushes everyone up, opens up a spot in that 13/14 F range, and Etem would be cheap should be sign. Keeps the other AHL guys that need time in the AHL, and doesn't force anyone else in.

The only good part with Vilardi is we'll never know what the Kings didn't end up getting if his back is too messed up to ever do anything significant in the NHL. We've all been cool with the pick though, so no 20/20 on this one. No they should've picked someone else, or they should've traded him for Pacioretty when they had the chance.

I'm not going to start panicking until Vilardi starts missing days at training camp. This is definitely concerning if he is still having issues, but I'm going to trust our training staff to not rush him and make sure he's ready to go by training camp. Missing rookie camp isn't the biggest deal because we already know how good he is.

As for JAD, I think if there's any player who would force his way onto the roster to surprise everyone, it would JAD. I think this kid has the heart of a lion onto of having excellent skill and speed to go with it. I don't think he'll make the team, but he'll be one of the last cuts and could start making his way next year. And I think the good news in hearing that from Emerson is that its going to force the so called "lock" players to perform better due to the increase in competition which is only beneficial to everyone.

I think the fact he missed so much time last year and now is looking like issues are still there is already concerning.

No ?

The usual suspects have arrived already.

Be ready for the 20/20.

You can't make that kind of statement, if for no other reason than there are more than 2 people browsing this forum. I guarantee you that there are people that were concerned about his back from the start.
