I wouldn't write Lucic off just yet. There are things he can do to improve his foot speed for hockey. And the 6.8 shooting percentage stands out compared to the rest of his career. 20-30-50 at 30 years old seems reasonable this year.

That same article that suggested he could be on the move suggested that he would come out with a chip on his shoulder this year. His pride/ego is probably hurt, and he's now on the side of 30 where you need to bust your ass just to be 85% of the athlete you once were. I could see him bouncing back.

With Rymsha, think Eric Belanger.

That's a good one, actually.

Great, incoming firestorm towards Kings and Kings fans even though it's nothing to do with us.

Absolutely disgusting. Lucic for 5 years or Phaneuf for 3. Easy choice.

What's with the Lucic hard ons. It's truly baffling.

It's like Kings fans have an affinity with dying stars or something.
For once I agree with you.

This receptiveness towards Lucic is insanity. We might as well trade for Bobby Ryan too.

Happens in all sports. People obviously realize that father time always win, but some people have a hard time accepting that some players are KO'ed at 29 instead of the usual 35.

I really don't think he moves at an NHL level anymore. This has a chance to be a complete disaster for the Oilers. Chiarelli should have someone plant some pain pills in his car.

And also pickup Joffrey Lupul and Scott Hartnell.

The Lupul scenario is really interesting, for all the talk about cap circumvention re: the Richards scenario, it sounded like Lou had basically blackmailed him into not playing. Probably not actually the case because I could imagine the PA raising a stink, but the guy was a good player decimated by injuries, and you would think he'd at least like to go out on his own terms.

Re: Hartell I laughed because I mixed him up with Scottie Upshall yet again, and he's going to be kicking around in Edmonton if my short term memory serves me correct

This was his follow up tweet. If the union is involved, then we can expect to see Voynov back in the NHL at some point.

Yeah, I figured that. The thing is once the season starts, nobody will care where he plays, with the occasional media blip bring it up, then it will be forgotten.

It took a couple seasons for Dustin Brown to really regear his approach to his gameplan given the changes your body goes through as it goes into its 30s. Maybe he can given Lucic some pointers.

It baffles me that the guy was suspended for a full year already but might get even more this season.

I think the Austin Watson case will play into this too. If you give one guy 30 plus games, you have to do the same for the other when it comes to DV cases.

It also took the removal of Sutter too. Brown's always been in great shape, the issue I saw was the way Sutter took every opportunity to knock his confidence down.

I don't get how we heap everything on Sutter's shoulders when Brown was having his problems clear back t0 2014. Brown himself said he had to change the way he approached his preparations for the game. I dont' dispute Sutter being a factor, but it's getting a little silly how he's being given so much credit for Brown's lack of execution in seasons past.

Dustin Brown Stats | Hockey-Reference.com

Check out his time on ice average during the Sutter years. It’s no secret Sutter lost confidence in Brown, and Brown lost confidence in himself, and Sutter lost the locker room.

I think his hands are also a huge factor in his regression. He was actually a really underrated play maker and passer while with Boston. With the Kings and now with Edmonton he can't even receive a pass cleanly. He can't skate more than 5 feet with the puck anymore because he's too slow and his hands are awful.

Hate to be the guy who quotes the guy who heard from the guy but my coworker saw Lucic in Hawaii for Toffoli's wedding and they had a good chat and Lucic said he expects to be out of Edmonton come October. He must really not be happy in Edmonton considering he has a full NMC.

Brown was huge during the 2016-17 season. He bulked up a lot and looked like a NFL linebacker. This season he was noticeably slimmer.

I don't see how Edmonton moves Lucic without handcuffing them with a large retention and next to nothing in return. Maybe it is why they have Upshall on a PTO.

Since we're on the topic of reacquiring players... this deal happened 25 years ago.

Six months later they reacquire McSorley by sending Shawn McEachern back along with Tomas Sandstrom. Oh and the Kings did get Jim Paek as well.

How you match the offer sheet from the Blues, then trade him, only to end up losing Sandstrom for nothing when all was said and done is stupid.

I don't see what the point would be to make the trade now. They have around $4 million in cap space and all the only player they need to sign still is Nurse. They don't necessarily need the cap space right now. Lucic's value is at his lowest I would imagine. Like you said, they'd get nothing in return so it's not like trading him upgrades the team right now. Might as well keep him and see if he can rebound.

And that was Kings management in a nutshell. They also dealt a Hall of Fame defenseman who would go on to win another Norris Trophy for a washed up center that they had no use for in Jimmy Carson, and got rid of productive Corey Millen for a late draft pick.

You'd be hard pressed to find any transactions where the Kings came out on the winning end of the spectrum during that time. Nick Beverley was an utter dumbass, as was Barry Melrose.

Not to mention about Lucic:
Been there, done that.

At the end of his tenure with the Kings, he was playing on the 3rd line in the playoffs.
Also I don't want the team to spend even more time on PK because of Lucic.

only reason I could see is if he really wants out and is an issue in the room
