People love MacDermid because he's the Ivanans replacement people never knew they wanted.

If I've said it once then I've said it a thousand times then, if he does edge work and improve his lateral movement he will be a very solid dman.

He's fast for his height in straightline speed but sucks at agility. If he can improve that..

I've always wanted Ivanans back.. same for Frolov, Cammalleri, O'Donnell, etc. :)

I think he will sign a PTO.

It's possible, but given his age and his lack of speed and quickness, I think the bigger dollars might be overseas for Cammalleri. I really liked him too, one of the best shots on the Kings when he was with the team, but his best years are clearly well behind him. He's 36 now, and he hasn't appeared in more than 68 games in a season since 2009. Since then he's dealt with injuries that have slowed him down even more so and naturally so have his numbers. At this point in his career, he doesn't have much to offer anymore.

Vilardi will play sheltered non defensive minutes. I would not be surprised to see him play the odd shift with Carter too.

Yeah, I imagine he gets the Kempe deployment from last year. That would be good for him to get his feet wet.

MacDermid is a great fighter, true, but he also adds that big hit ability at the blueline. The Kings kind of had zero of that after sending him down until Phaneuf came over.

MacD is awesome because he's been groomed by the Kings and has really come a long way in his development. Great team guy. There is an attachment to him since he's been policing the ice in Ontario for a while now so it is definitely more than an Ivanans type thing.

Now, he just might not ever be a good enough skater. That being said, Fantenberg is a dime a dozen to me and is basically a mercenary when compared to Mac. Even if it is only for Reign purposes, I'd hate to lose Mac to waivers while carrying Fantenberg instead.

Wonder if he is after $$ or just to play in the NHL though. Given his career it probably is safe to assume it's the $$ as that has always been important to him.

I suspect the Kings will pay less attention to who is waiver eligible and who is not for the fringe players this season. Brickley is allegedly the real deal. If he is, Brickley and LaDue make the Kings and they roll the dice on Fantenberg and MacDermid clearing. Obviously that will have an impact on potential depth if either/or is claimed, and will make a huge difference to the ONT roster (more likely Moverare makes the Reign vs going back to juniors if someone is claimed). The last D cuts will be at the last possible moment if not waiver exempt.

I don't know if Europe is an option for Cammalleri, if he doesn't get atleast a camp PTO he probably just retires rather than heading overseas to Switzerland or Germany. Nick Shore is probably in the same boat waiting for a PTO but he is young enough that he could probably make pretty good money playing a few years in the KHL. Not surprised that Shore was not offered a contract by anyone, he has never shown much at the NHL level. Might be the classic AAAA player.

I was surprised Calgary went with signing Ryan over bringing back Shore.

MacDermid shouldnt be anywhere close to this team.

Fantenberg is twice as good. If he is a dime and dozen player than what the hell is MacDermid.

I dont care MacDermid has come a long way, he is not a NHL player.

Fantenberg isn't great at anything and it's debateable if he is even that good at anything.

MacDermid is actually great at a few things, it's just that those things aren't valued as much anymore which is why he probably won't make the team.

Regardless, Fantenberg should be in the press box if he makes the team.

MacDermid is tough and good at fighting.

He is slow, bad positioning, bad passer. Three things Fantenberg is at least solid at.

If MacDermid can play +30 minutes of mistake free hockey in a playoff game, call me. You say MacDermid is better than Fantenberg ? Laughable. I am far from a Fantenberg fan and really wished MacDermid would turn out into anything but that is not going to happen.

If i would get a penny for every negative remark from you regarding Fantenberg, i could get a free meal at MacDonalds. He had some great moments in the playoffs but of course you only pointed out the mistakes, like usual. Thats what i call, biased.

No idea how somebody can be this obsessed about a bottom pair defenseman.

MacDermid should not even be in the press box.

Cammy has earned 59 million during his career and will earn 5 million from NJ this season as part of his buy out. Why would he go to the KHL? It's over Johnny. It's over!

This reminds me of all the Modry hate from back in the day. Also, didn't know he was an Asst. Coach for the Reign.
