Any idea on the AHL free agent forwards? Will any be back? They don't have even 12 of their own young forwards to play in Ontario next year. I'm counting 21 forwards under contract that will be in the pros.

No rumblings yet. It's a crap shoot every year. Lots of holes to on offense with Brodz, Amadio and LaDue all likely sticking with the Kings. I wouldn't be shocked if Moulson asked if he could be loaned to us again since there is little hope for his contract to be moved and he was not bought out. A new GM this year, so we could see a lot of new faces. The roster is wide open with so many new prospects coming in. It won't be the same team, and will be pretty raw.

Dump Muzzin, Brickley, LaDue, Fantenberg, fill in

Dump Toffoli - Carter goes to wing, Amadio, Rempal, Brodzinski, fills in.

Then after Doughty resigns, next year, you will have to move Martinez etc, and hope your RFAs don't break the bank.

Muzzin had the lowest goals against per 60 on the team for d-men, and had the best gf% as well.

He also had softer minutes this year, but your comment isn't accurate.

He did not, LaDue, Phaneuf, McDermid, Forbort and Fattenberg had a lower ga/60. Doughty had the worst.

A majority of his good GF% is from his time playing with Dougty as well. The Folin/Muzzin pairing was a disaster (Fantasy Hockey Line Production | Which NHL Lines Score the Most Goals | leftwinglock.com, search Muzzin)

Even if Blake gets fleeced, you're basically trading Toffoli & Muzzin for Tavares & scraps. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

If the Kings want him and don't give him what he wants then he might just stay in the KHL for another year and come back next year as a UFA.

If the Kings don't want him then there will be a bidding war to acquire him which would include teams trying to negotiate a contract with him.

I don't understand whats with the year waiting thing. My understanding is that Voynov is a permanent RFA because he didn't fulfill the required number of games to become a UFA and we terminated his contract.

I read that somewhere as well. I just don't get it. Trade out Toffoli and Muzzin and you have cap room for an elite player like Tavares. He is in LA, and allegedly expressed interest in LA. At least make a pitch.

maybe they already inquired or at least know what it would take and are not willing. What would the 7 year deal look like for JT to leave $11M/yr for 8 years on the table from the Islanders? Would he ask for much more given the one less year?

Per Corsica, 5 vs 5 even strength stats (above 300 minutes because Ladue and Gravel barely played) show that Muzzin had the best GF% and the best GA/60. Phaneuf had by far the worst GF% and GA/60 on the team.

What do you think Patches re-signs for? Have to think it is similar to Kane's 7x7 in SJ.

Edit: Sorry just read you are thinking the same $7M. I would rather have Skinner but don't see either coming to LA.

I think it has to do with score, venue, and zone start adjustments, and whether you're looking purely at 5 on 5 or all even strength situations.

For example, here is some of the data from Natural Stat Trick (another advanced stats site). This is the data for all even strength situations when the Kings were either up by 1 goal or within 1 goal:

Here's the really funny thing about that--he scores an average of 2--two--points more than Anze, who now has the superior individual high as well despite playing harder all situations minutes on a lower scoring team.

AK11 is criminally underrated around the league.
