Rumor: 2018-19 Kings News/Rumors/Tidbits

That's my big thing here too. There's a lot we're not privy to. Yes, I know the trial details are public, but we don't know the behind the scenes workings of either the court OR the team, but the team keeping or moving Voynov's rights shouldn't be seen as a definitive indication of anything.
Exactly. Anyone remember what happened with Ziggy and his fitness fanatic girlfriend? We don't hear everything, but I am sure that there were many times that she abused Slava. I also believe it's a cultural difference in what is acceptable as far as beating the crap out of your significant other. I don't condone it, I think it's despicable to solve problems physically with any gender.
Slava wants to be a King, and the Kings want him. I highly doubt that he goes to a different team when he know most of the guys, loves living in the South Bay (I mean who wouldn't) and management.

Besides being rumored of re-signing Doughty I haven't heard much talk of us targeting another player.

I'm thinking nothing happens until the Voynov situation is settled.

I’ve read from multiple places that were interested in LD Calvin De Haan. Rumor is he’s asking for around 4 mil a year. A corresponding move would have to happen. We’d have too many defenseman and would be over the cap by 3 mil or so.

I see no reason to add De Haan. He's no better than Muzzin/Martinez. Unless you wanna pay him 4M to play on the 3rd pairing with Phaneuf who's already making 5 or somthin.

I heard those too and I like CDH but it's a very strange link given he's yet ANOTHER LHD. It would almost certainly signal a corresponding move.

The bolded is something we don't know, which is a big part of what I'm saying in this discussion.

The fans want him back because he makes the team better; however, all we know is that Voynov wants to come back to the NHL and that the Kings aren't even commenting about much of anything until the legal process unfolds.

It is an assumption that Voynov wants to be on the Kings and that current Kings management wants him back, hence the argument that there is more to him coming back to the Kings than just worrying about public perception.

Why, he didn't suck. 20/ 35 and was a plus 26 in his 1 year in LA.

He is the complete opposite player than what the league is swinging to. Adding him to our roster at this point in time would be beyond stupid. Let him jack up Edmonton’s cap for the 10ish goals he will give.

To me the thinking on him would be as a replacement for one of the guys you listed. If you signed CDH you move Muzzin/Amart and get the pieces you get in that trade and get younger at the same time.

Not that I'm at all advocating picking up Lucic, but with all this focused frenzy on speed and skill, I'm actually starting to think it's best to NOT follow that model. It's like Warren Buffet and the stock market.

I have no problem with a Lucic-model player. I think the Kings need to be looking for a newer model though.

I don't see LA picking up any big boys soon. After watching the recent Black & White on YouTube "Adding Skill": Futa talks about the culture change in LA when they began the Big and Tough movement and won. Then goes on & talks about filling the holes through College Signings and high draft picks because the NHL has evolved. Pretty short piece as to the direction of the team.

With how LA drafted and how the NHL is changing, chances are very slim of any big forwards coming to LA

I understand the league is going in a different direction, but we are still the Kings - who are known as big and tough. Same Kings who drafted Simmonds, Andreoff, and Clifford in high rounds and traded for Lucic.

Nolan was lost on waivers and Andreoff is in Tampa. Over the years Mitchell, Greene, Regehr, and possibly now Folin are gone. The back end is pretty soft and the forward group is really soft except for Clifford and Thompson. I think the Kings might address this July 1st or at least give MaD a shot at the #7 or #8.

If Reaves goes to the Flames, then Tkachuk has a body guard. Kings are about to commit to Doughty for a long time and need to protect that asset. In addition, Anaheim is not soft and neither is Vegas. So Kings can add speed and college players, but they won't forget their identity.

Then you must think every team in the NHL is soft then, including the last 3 cup winners.

More Reaves non-sense and matching toughness? The guy is about to be on his 4th team in a calendar year, same amount of teams as Nick Shore.

I certainly hope Blake is more concerned with trying to catch-up with Winnipeg, Nashville and LV's speed and skill than he is with matching Calgary's toughness.

The Ducks are losing Boll and Bieksa. That leaves them with Josh Manson as there "tough guy".

Remember when Reaves lost it and the Kings PP killed them in that Vegas game? Good times.

De Haan is only a possibility if Blake is packaging one of Muzzin or Amart and a forward for another scoring forward. Then it makes a ton of sense. A huge risk though to make that deal unless he already has a verbal commitment from De Haan.

Jon Rosen wrote that we might see something else from the team today . Woahhhh wonder what it is . No contracts to sign unless it’s a Kempe extension or maybe a trade ? Interesting

I still think you need a balance of the two.Not many of the speedy/skilled guys are comfortable going into the corners digging out the pucks and taking the abuse. We saw it a few times in the SCF when the skilled guys from Vegas avoided contact in the corners and gave up the puck.

Didn't see any mention of it on twitter or in this entry, unless he's talking about the introduction of the LA Kings Insider Assistant...

Doughy re-signs with the Kings , yet:

"Finally, how does the affect the Toronto Maple Leafs?
Because it all comes back to the Leafs, right?
Doughty was another in a long line of Ontario-born players whom some Toronto fans (and media) were determined would come home and play a vital role for the Leafs. In this case, it was to have Doughty become the franchise defenseman backbone for Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner up front.
Welp, there's always the trade market. Say, isn't Subban from Toronto?

Drew Doughty got his new deal; what happens next?
