I’d like to get some of those Flyer prospects like Frost or Harter.

Ideally, I’m thinking Carts for Farabee/mid round pick OR Oscar Lindblom/2nd or 3rd rounder.

Given the Flyers goaltending woes, I’d do Quick for Carter Hart/1st. Quick/Elliot would be a good combo for them.

And what about the Flyers cap space? JVR's $7m is still coming back, with $9m open right now.

There are no guarantees in life, and a rebuild while needed, if not managed properly will not bear fruit. The percentages are very low that a core of Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, and Carter will ever contend again.

So, would you rather stick with the low percentage option, or would you rather get on with the business of improving the Kings 4-5 years down the line?

I have significant doubts about Robitaille's ability to guide the Kings through a rebuild. There could be several false starts with him in charge. The culture built by Lombardi seems to already be evaporating under his "leadership".

There's soon to be 32 NHL teams. There's only 1 cup. No matter what method you choose to build your team, your chances of winning are very low.

13 cups have been won since the lockout. The significant majority of the those cups went to teams that went through some sort of tank phase.

Rebuilding doesn't give you a good chance of winning the cup, it just gives you the best chance.

wow ...i just took a look at stats ...wow its bad, only 9 games but bad

What about a package of Pearson + a D (one of Martinez or Forbort) for Nylander? Too much from the Kings?

I think Muzzin + Pearson is too much.

Don't think Toronto does it and I am nervous about what kind of contract he wants. If Nylander would sign for 6x$7M then maybe. I don't think Muzzin+Pearson would be enough TBH

Teh Flyers just used a first on Farabee so I do not think him and a mid roudn pick are the same value. Or do you mean a mid first?

I don’t think we’ll get a first in addition to Farabee, to be honest. You have to look at Carter’s production now in addition to his contract. He has three years left but make no mistake we’re unloading that. It’s manageable for the Flyers with the deep pipeline/farm system they have with guys coming in on ELC over the years.

I think Hextall/DL would want Carts on the team to guide the youngsters and Carters production skyrockets because he will have much better linemates over there.

On the other hand, Hextall must be looking for a goalie and Quick would fit in real well over there too. He just needs to get healthy.

Kopi 10 mil
Koval 6.25 mil
Carter 5.272 mil
Toffoli 4.6 mil
26.12 mil for our top 4 high forwards

Doughty 7 mil
Phaneuf, 5.25 mil
Martinez 4 mil
Muzzin 4 mil
20.25 mil for our top 4 defensemen

58% of our cap space gets us second to last in the league in standings, second to last in goals four, 4 from the bottom in goals for, and second to last in differential.

Kopi's +/- is a +1 for how much he's been on the ice and how many goals have been scored against the Kings. Pretty impressive. Can't imagine the Kings without him right now.

sorry i thought the "/" meant either or not "+"

One of the main reasons the Kings made the playoffs last year? People could list 5 things and I bet this would not be on ANY list.

1. DARCY KUEMPER.

Darcy Kuemper. 10 - 1 - 3 record. 2.10 GAA. If ANY other backup was in net, maybe the Kings go 6-4-1 and MISS the playoffs.
I do not think he got deserved kudos and too bad they couldn't keep him, or get better than Rieder for him.

The Kings need unsung PRODUCTIVE heroes / OVERACHIEVERS like Kuemper. They currently do not have any.
Sean Walker's game last night was fairly impressive...maybe he can become a solid player. Not sure about a 'difference maker'
but perhaps he does a good job, not a liability, produces some offense, and good on D. This could allow the Kings to deal
one of: Muzzin / Martinez for some offense. Neither can land a top 6 player, but Muzzin / Marty PLUS prospect may get
something decent.

I mentioned before the season started that there was no way they would get the same record out of the #2 goalie as they did last year. Couple that with probable regression from 11/23 that would help cancel out some of the additional Carter and then Kovalchuk production, this team would need a lot of magic to be legit, i.e. all young guys take a leap forward and no injuries.

Outside of Carter being hurt, everything did kind of go right for the Kings last season. Hell, Carter was on fire when he came back so he made up for a good portion of the time he missed.

All of that said, the current product is much worse than expected.
