The Ducks even have a recycled coach nearing retirement age that they previously fired due to poor team performance.

I would like to see another coach come in with a different system and see where there players abilities are.Then make your trades or have the players you've in your system adapt to that new style.

Yoooooo let’s slow the roll on the Ducks, eh? They are wildly outperforming their underlying numbers which is a recipe for a backslide. It’s all Gibson, and he’s not going to be the first goalie...ever...to finish a full season with the type of save percentage he has right now.

Anaheim in for a Rude Awakening Soon - The Point

Bob Miller calls it the worst trade in Kings history. Hard to argue that.

It's one of them, there are two others that cross my mind, one is they traded the pick that became Ray Bourque, realizing they might not have taken him, but they took themselves out of the running, and then they were used as pawns by Montreal in a trade that secured Montreal got the #1 pick and picked Guy Lafleur.

IMO this was way worse, then the others, he was on the team and they failed to see his value , in those days you were drafting 20 year olds so high picks like him were a little safer but you still needed to develop and pay accordingly

It's pretty close. I think also trading away the pick that turned out to be Ray Bourque for Ron Graham (I think?) has to be up there.

So many awful trades, and the theme in most of them is the Kings trading young players and/or draft picks for older veterans.

Since the days of Jack Kent Cooke, started off as a need, to fill seats, winning fills seats, and it just never never stopped....until Lombardi came in, 1967 to 2006, that's just scary.

yeah, we all said that about VGK last year too.....

The two are not comparable at all. Vegas was not some team that was wildly over performing its relevant underlying numbers and relying on an otherworldly goalie; Vegas was actually really good. The “Vegas will come back to earth” argument was based on the fact that Vegas was an expansion team full of secondary players and no expansion team should be that good. It was not based on Vegas outrunning its peripheral numbers that were indicators of true talent level.

For example, last year Vegas was:
-4th in the league in percentage of slots from the slot;
-6th in most slot shots for per game;
-6th in fewest slot shots against per game;
-13th in controlled zone entries per game; and
-11th in shots for per game.

As the picture from my original post shows, the Ducks so far this season are in no way comparable to Vegas last season.

The Ducks were dominated once again last night and only won because of Gibson. If he avoids injury and plays a full slate of games, he is not going to finish the year at a .950 sv%. I can promise that, so regression is in order.

Here’s how things looked last night:

The now 5-1-1 Ducks defy the odds, yet again - The Point

Naw the only person who gets the, you're all stupid post, is Sol, and that's just, because his post history lives up to that, everyone else is just reading what they want into it.

Absolutely respond to stats, in fact, here's one, Kings have ZERO PPGs, guess what, that's not good, but you do realize stats can be, are now, and will always be, manipulated to whoever is quoting them's point of view.

I asked this years ago, would you rather have a player that has 50G and 50A or one that has 20 G and 80 A and overwhelmingly people chose the 50G and 50A guy without realizing that both choices results in 100 G, so yea, you can manipulate stats all you want, another point, just now, guy says JAD has a higher win percentage than Thompson to prove his point that Thompson is terrible...well JAD has SEVEN faceoffs per ESPN, now ESPN can be wrong, but going off of stats, that's a manipulated stat, to prove a point.

I've never implied, or said, or otherwise indicated I was the smartest one in the room, I do have a higher than normal knowledge of the game, and the pro aspect of it, that's just from experience, so when I mention something like, the reason Wagner might not be suited to the rigors of NHL games because he MAY be the type of player that beats himself up and loses confidence over every mistake, that's because I've seen it and been next to it, and it happens, I don't know if that's the case with Wagner, but as an organization, I would rather they make sure he's ready, and do what's best for him, rather than roll him out there because "Clifford is terrible" which is another nonsense that fans subscribe to, Clifford is a 4th line player designed to play 6-8 minutes, bang around, crash, try to get everyone else energized, which is exactly what he does, and yet again, you have fans claiming get rid of him!! etc, it's nonsensical to get rid of a player like Clifford so you can play Rempal on the 4th line for 6 minutes, that does nothing for Rempal at all...now that he's up and going to have his cup of coffee, everyone's like, OMG they are playing him with Thompson.....and not looking at the bigger picture, you have ZERO idea what you are going to get with Rempal, do you want him on the 1st line, possibly not able to keep up and drag that line down, no, how about the 2nd, no, the 3rd? maybe put him there instead of Lewis, but you don't know, maybe that happens sometime during the game, or the next etc, people aren't willing to give anything a chance...before they ***** and complain over it.

Now you will go back and say, but it isn't a day to day thing, it's all of last season to etc, which I pointed out in one post, everyone was praising Stevens when they were winning and scoring....what changed? Only one poster had anything intelligent to say on that, and said Turgeon left, and that precipitated the change, which if that is true, Blake has to have a long, deep conversation.

I still subscribe to the fact that Stevens is trying to implement a system that the players aren't comfortable with, and aren't buying into yet, because they aren't seeing results from it.

I just saw this shit. You think you are smarter than me when I point out your bullshit nonstop ? What the f***? The reason why everyone else sees through you is because you are insufferable jackass to everyone. There's a multitude of people who've blocked you.

The reason people don't like you is because you cut against the grain just to say that you did, and pat yourself on the back for it. You're not smarter than anyone about anything, the only point you're good at proving is that you're just a giant douche.

Sol, here's the problem, you are a fan that knows NOTHING about the game, but tries to tell everyone he knows EVERYTHING about the game,

In no order, you've denigrated Quick called him a bad goalie, etc, you've said Clifford is a black hole, without understanding exactly what he brings to the team, same with Thompson, and to your defense, Thompson hasn't been good and others have said that, but they don't have anyone else who can do what he can right now and eat up the minutes needed.

Everytime something happens you are quick to blame players that you don't like, Clifford, Quick, Lewis, Thompson etc, without knowing or understanding what happened.

Ziggy, RJ, Herby, Kings 17, all of them they at least understand enough of the game to back up their opinion, while I disagree with most of it from time to time, they at least have solid reasoning behind theirs.

Here, I will give you a chance, what is your reasoning, for calling Clifford a black hole and wanting him off the team, I'm sure you've said it before, I am just not gonna search every thread....

From what I can tell everyone else, either disagrees with you about Clifford, or has a rationale behind it, ie, Herby's 4th line should be refreshed every year or so etc, etc, he's too expensive for what he does etc, The only thing you do is rail that he's a black hole, but you haven't but any thought into why.

You can't breakdown a play to understand why what happened did happen, and that's fine...absolutely nothing wrong with that, until you start to criticize players for something that wasn't even their fault, you look like an idiot when doing that.

I may look like an idiot defending players like Thompson, but I know what they bring to the team, to the locker room and I also understand that if there was a kid who can do what he did, he would be gone, but there isn't, and until there is, he will play.
