He may not play much, but the fact that Rempal was recalled is a positive. It indicates that Blake sees something isn't working and there needs to be changes.

This might be the third player to see their first NHL game only a couple weeks into the season. When's the last time we saw that on a Kings team? At least they appear willing to deviate from the status quo.

Did you happen to read Blake's quotes in the Athletic the other day? He seemed to pretty much agree with everyone else on here regarding the teams play so far. His quote about the team having too much talent to be playing this bad also seemed to insinuate that he thinks that there is a coaching problem.

Coaches are hired to be fired, and as long as they win, fans will tolerate them, because they're pretty much all the same with the way they do things. Go to any fan base, and if we're not complaining about refs, it's going to be coaches. The vast majority will give veterans longer leashes. The vast majority will make young players earn their ice time over a period of time, even if more veteran players are struggling at the same time. I don't know what young unproven player whisperer people expect to replace Stevens. Maybe Brad Stevens. Those guys are a rare find in the wilderness though.

You caught me. We have no basis and are making up the fledgling numbers. They’re generating plenty of amazing scoring chances with the man advantage. They’re just not getting the bounces, like those blocked point shots redirecting into the net.

Dont like seeing Iafallo and Kovy split up, but I get it. We arent gonna win with only one line going.

Pearson deserves a wakeup call, hopefully this is it.

Amadio has some damn good wingers, and Toffoli/Kopitar has worked in the past. If sticking Kopi and Iafallo with TT can’t boost his production then he’s toast in LA, move on from him, flip him for defensive help.

Nice to see Rempal get rewarded with a recall as well.

Lets see what happens, still gotta plug Brown in somewhere soon. Who, last season, was our best winger by a mile. So theres that to look forward to.

This post is not directed to me, but I will respond. First of all, people complaining about the line ups are not saying Stevens should just randomly jumble them up. I think most people are saying that it was a crazy idea to sit Wagner when he was doing so well, and let guys like Clifford and Thompson play instead. Also, most here agree that the Iafallo-Kopitar-Kovy line was working. Why split them up? If you want to change the lineups, change the ones that don't work, sit useless players like Clifford and Thompson, and now Lewis, and work in the youth. Will that solve the Kings horrible play? No, but its one step in the right direction.

Next, the coach is completely clueless. A big sign of this is when the media asks DD what's wrong with the powerplay, and he says he has no freakin clue. Or when the coach has Kovy screen the goalie on the powerplay, just to "confuse" the other team.

I don't think the roster we have is ideal, but its enough for a coach with vision to work with. Stevens has been basically learning how to be a head coach on the job for the past year. He is not cut out for this job. I can't speak about his ancient record in Philly, but whatever he had back then, he doesn't have now. This team needs a drill sergeant type coach to kick everyone's butts into gear and play as a team.

I never once complained about changes, I just question how a player who constantly creates scoring opportunities for the opposing team continues to get ice time and why placing a young player known for creating offense has to be stuck playing with him.

I guess having a line of players who can't get the puck out of their zone like they had with Clifford-Thompson-Lewis, a line Stevens put together, wasn't the greatest of ideas. But hey, the genius coach who makes unmistakable decisions came up with the lineup that has been looking abysmal of late. He's digging his own hole. Nobody here is doing it for him.

Why split up Kopitar, Kovy, Iafallo, because you need more than ONE line to work, I have no idea if the other lines will, but you have to try.

Thompson isn't as useless as you guys make him out to be, he;s a 4th line center who kills penalties and wins faceoffs, I do find it funny that a lot of people blame him for what the Kings are, that's like blaming the Janitor at Enron for the shit that Enron did.

The team actually would be improved by giving 100% of his ice time to literally anyone else. Good teams have balance, and the Kings have less balance when Thompson is playing.

You're responding to someone who chooses to ignore facts. He was convinced the Kings had plenty of opportunities to win the series against Vegas and they bounces didn't go their way while many of us argued that the team was barely a threat to score against Vegas and couldn't get scoring chances from down the middle, which was supported with data and also comments from management and coaches that they have to place more emphasis to get more shots from down the middle.

Stats and data be damned, Thompson is a valuable piece in the eyes of a homer.

Nate Thompson no longer is one of the best face-off % leaders in the NHL, in fact he's now the 2nd worst on our team among the regulars.
