>Log Jam at LD so bad that we remove our best performing new D-man
>RD so barren that LaDue defacto makes the team
>Still doesn't play LaDue
>Continue to Force Martinez-Muzzin pairing

HOW HAS A RD TRADE NOT BEEN MADE YET.

Offseason as in after this season? So he's predicting something 8-9 months from now? How stupid.

What's even stupider is that it's obvious.

Too bad I don't know how to use capfriendly. If I did, I would know that we will have around $3-4M available for 6 roster spots after the cap increase next year, 3 of which are young, key RFA's. If I knew how to subtract and divide I would actually be able to figure out that raises alone will eat all of that up and then some.

Stupid math.

I'm sure LaDue will take plenty of bodychecks. As far as throwing body checks goes... I wouldn't hold my breath.

I learned from looking at the roster guides every year and seeing how big guys like Jaroslav Modry and Joe Corvo were listed as being, and then seeing how soft they were on the ice.
Yeah, LaDue is going to get smashed into his own end boards on a regular basis I'm afraid.

because there are a lot of teams looking for RD which is driving up the cost to the point that if a deal were to go through most would probably be pissed off anyway.

Mike Allison scored one of the hardest working kick ass goals in kings history. Right up there with Krush's goal from his keester against the flemmes.

Hard nosed hard working dude that Allison. We should have retired #10 when he left.

Are we over developing our players? Seems kind of crazy that the last 19 year old we had on the Kings was Kyle Clifford.

And then we look at our "young" guys trying to get a bigger role this year (LaDue/Brodzinski) and they're already 26/25 years old.

Brickley will need to be up sooner rather than later: especially if there is an injury.

If 8 goes down, the whole thing is over with but my point is that this team will be in deep shit if two of the six they roll out there are LaDue and Fantenberg. One is already less-than-optimal but both at the same time would be a disaster.

Wild that one playoff game in which Quick played out of his mind leads to a new contract and the #6 spot after a piss-poor pre-season. Also kind of wild that being a RHS allows you to make the team and dishonor Doug Zmolek after yet another poor pre-season. I mean, it is the second camp in a row where LaDue needed to cash in on his potential and he pretty much made the team by default due to waivers.

I don't really know how much more Kempe/Amadio/Iafallo can give so hopefully Brown is not out for too long with the injury not lingering all season and impacting his offensive touch. The idea here was to add to the scoring with Kovalchuk and not simply replace an injured Brown.

Wagner's speed with Kempe sounds fun but it seemed a lo more fun on the 4th line without the injuries forcing a 3rd line appearance.

This team was shot out of a cannon last year but there was a lot of unsustainable shooting percentages and whatnot. They also aren't the team that couldn't score in January (I think it was January) so they are somewhere in between the torrid start and the cold spell. That was with the established chemistry of Kopitar/Brown. I now expect the 1st line to start off slow so we will be hoping that the 70s line finds the magic from a few years ago.

I'm not terribly excited for the start. San Jose at home has all the making of a sad Friday. Quick going to need to be sharp.

100%. It can be painful to read the posts on here about people always saying players need to stay down for no good reason other than just assuming they won't be good because of their age.

Before Vilardi, the highest pick they had since Clifford made the team was 15th with Forbort. Didn't have a 1st in 4 of those drafts. Up until the 2016 playoffs, they were going for it with few spots open for any of the low to no 1st round picks. Didn't Pearson not get picked in what should've been his original draft class?

No, it's not crazy they haven't had a 19 year old on the roster since Clifford. Who should've been on it?

You're right, it's absolutely crazy and pathetic. Kings haven't had a teenager until that potato Clifford made the team? The f***.

They're not going to just get rid of Clifford and/or Thompson.

Plant cocaine.

Poor Amadio, that's your reward for staying in town, working your ass off and having a great camp. You start the year centering Clifford and Thompson. Just a total waste for a guy who has displayed some nice skill and has upside to improve.

That 70's Line? It's the new "Carter/Richards bromance", just because something worked years ago doesn't mean it's going to work today. Was excited to see Pearson and Toffoli and what they could do against less difficult defensive matchups and adding legit scoring options to the bottom six. Maybe this all gets corrected when Brown gets back, but our forward unit looks extremely underwhelming coming into the season. I think they really need Kovalchuk to be a legit 1st line impact player if they are going to be a playoff team.

I remember taking my girlfriend to her first hockey game in 2008, the Kings’ home opener, a 1-0 shutout loss against the Sharks. And it didn’t take her long to realize how much Jason LaBarbera sucked. Quick learner she is.
