I agree. As I said just random thoughts on my part. Wonder if we could get Ovi for picks.Does the cap not exist?
There’s no way in hell we can afford Tavares let alone Tavares, Panarin, Kovalchuk, and Doughty’s extension.
Eh, I think it’s okay to be honest with ourselves here: we offered Kovalchuk three years when Boston and SJ only offered two. That’s why he signed with us.

Even 6 x $6 million for Pacioretty would've been ugly. $8 million a year? LOL good luck with that.

yeah we did and I ll bet Kovy outscores him; great deal by Blake; I like what he is doing with the team, drafting includedJust read on the MTL board that the deal for MaxPax was as follows
20th overall
JAD
Jacob Moverare
2019 2nd if he didn’t sign
2019 or 20 1st if he did ..
So 2-1st rounders
Jaret Anderson-Dolan
Jacob Moverare
For
One season of pouting, playoff choking MaxPac!!! I think we dodged a bullet there
JT is in LA already. Might as well give him a tour and whip out DL's old bar graphs/pie charts and hear what he says.
Now we're going to hear for ages "WE COULD HAVE HAD VILARDI PEARSON AND A 1ST IF PATCHES WOULD HAVE JUST SIGNED THAT EXTENSION WITH LA.
If the Kings really want another winger I'd rather they take a chance on a low risk UFA like Grabner or Vanek. At least that way they're not giving up assets.
Apparently Rick Nash is considering retirement unless he has a shot at a cup. He might be willing to take a cheap 1 year deal if he thinks the Kings have a shot.
I’d go this route as well if they’re looking to add another scoring winger. The cost to acquire one via trade coupled with the cap hoops and hurdles they’d need to go through to re-sign an impending UFA one year from now would be too costly.
I figure now that the Kovalchuk signing is done, the entire focus will be on locking up Drew, who I estimate will see his AAV go up by $4-5M in 2019. Then they can go from there and see which UFAs are serious about winning and are willing to commit.
From what we’ve read recently, the Kings staff wants three lines capable of producing and a fourth line that is more like a third line. Adding another talented forward to the current mix will help the team accomplish that goal.
