No one wants Desjardins, and if they did, they sure as hell wouldn't have to trade for him.

I read it like they would be shipping off a forward and would need to sign someone. No idea who they would add as they don't need a defenseman.

Maybe they aren't thrilled with Desharnais as the 4C with Chytil playing. They may be looking for a more defensively suited 4th line for now. Who the hell knows.

I should specify that none of these things should justify signing Desjardins.

I saw nothing fro Bereglazov. In TC or at Travers City
He was probably the biggest disappointment in camp, for me. I had high hopes that he'd push for a spot. I don't know if he would have made it regardless, but he certainly didn't do anything to really force the team into a tough decision. I also think the out clause was overblown; I don't think the Rangers would have given him preference over anyone because of it.

Hopefully he sticks around in Hartford and shows that he can play the North American game successfully. But, if he chooses to leave, it will be an "oh well" kind of thing for me.

It wasn't just his play that I wasn't impressed with, it was his general disinterest.

It's not the worst thing in the world to sign Desjarndis

The worst thing about it is me always taking a half second to figure out who someone means when they say Desjarndis or Desharnis

So I'm calling the latter DD51

Remember this AV did not bring desjardins in. He publicly said that was brads idea they wanted to take a look at him. AV said he knew nothing about him other than Cup winner. So this isn’t one of those AV toys situations. It’s really strange he’s still here. I don’t get it.

I knew no one was going to pick up puempel. He had a terrible camp

Zero chance Desjardins is signed and traded

Can't some team just offer him a contract if they wanted him?

It just happened with Upshall, on PTO with Vancouver, and signed away by the Blues

And didn't someone from the organization say that Desjardins doesn't have any other options out there? I remember reading or hearing that from someone in the last 2 days

I expected Bereglazov to make a lot better impression. He did not look anything like an NHL level defenseman. Maybe he needs some adjustment time. Maybe if he went home and came back in a year or two to another team he'd be a whole different player but right now he looks really bad.

If there was any interest in Staal, wouldn't it stand to reason that there would be even whispers of the Rangers approaching Staal about waiving his NMC? I feel comfortable with the idea that there is no interest around the league in having Staal on a 3rd pair. In fact, 'common sense' would dictate it.
No, I don't think it would stand to reason. Not with the Rangers' front office being notoriously close-lipped about this sort of thing. I don't think there is enough information to state that there is no interest around the league, and I don't think 'common sense' is a phrase that can be applied to this situation, as it is a rather complex one.

On Desjardins, I don't at all mind having a hard nosed vet around as an alternative for a depth position.

Carey and Desharnais are soft, our lineup is very soft. We have little experience at many positions.

Do I believe that we should invest in someone like him for a PO run? Of course not. But for a handful of games in November? That is another issue.

Let's not forget that you are not immune to physical play in this league. All of a sudden a Boone Jenner of Wilson knocks a top player on this roster out cold. All of a sudden a JT Miller lays out Claude Giroux and we face a Philly squad looking for revenge a few days later.

A 13th forward is a 13th forward, can be a cheap insurance. Just saying, don't think it's ALL downside.

There is no information suggesting there is any interest in Staal...not a single rumor. That alone speaks volumes.
