WC: 2017 Team Canada

That looks bad on Hockey Canada. Unless they are waiting to see if Price is available, it doesn't make sense.

Not surprised about Keith. He is getting old and had a public divorce/custody issue recently. Toews would have been a good fit for this roster, but we can't take any of the team Canada locks as a given for this tournament. This is four times when Toews could have gone and didn't. Looks a bit like an Iginla. Wouldn't have wanted Seabrook anyway.

Not sure about that. They seem to prefer Crawford to Dubnyk based on the gimmick World Cup. If Crawford is saying that he is interested, they should just send the invite now. If he accepts and we then learn that Price also wants to go, they can hopefully learn their lesson and not invite someone like Comrie again.

Maybe he'll surprise us all by pulling a Crosby-in-2015, but I don't see Price accepting an invite.

They should go with Crawford while they still can. A clear #1 starter.
 
Keith should go to join Triple Gold Club, he may not get another chance at getting World Championship gold.

Nah, they can still add something quite big. There's still the Toronto guys, Giordano is I guess considering, there could be Marchand, maybe McDavid and Talbot or Burns and Jones, and maybe even Couture. Someone will surely go.
 
MTL eliminated. Price/Weber are a possibility. Gallagher, was on the team last year. Arguably Byron had a better season with 22 goals though, could he be considered? Danault/Shaw are also available, maybe depth player for Canada?

It feels somewhat humiliating, but fades in Feels compared to the lackluster semifinal performance. Good thing that we dont really know what entity we lost to in either game, so it could have been worse. Bettman got royally rekt in that tournament, only to follow through on its premises anyway regarding the Olympics. Lets just hope that the next World Cup, 1: Gets played without gimmick teams. 2: Gets played every other year, or every third at worst. 3: Preferably have games on both sides of the pond.

there's no way Price wants to continue his season. It would be cool if he pulled a Crosby and made the phone call though. Short of that, give me Jones, Pickles and Burns...perhaps even Couture if Towes declines, which, in all likelihood, he will. but Couture has never really been interested in this tournament, so...there's that.

take 23 to Europe and if it so happens that Anaheim makes quick work of the Oilers, and if Connor is up for it, then that would be sweet if he could join regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

if not, then carry on with what we have and hope for zzzzzzzzzz beste in Paris and then on to Deutschland.

What? Byron, Danault, Shaw? These players have nothing to do on Team Canada at this point.

I would be very surprised if Price and Weber went.

Gallagher is a possibility but I don't think that they will want him. There are (or will be) better players available and he wasn't that good last year at the WHC.
 
My theory on Keith: He's locked into a longterm deal in Chicago that's de-escalating every season and he just got divorced. I think he faked an injury before the World Cup of Hockey because he's trying to preserve his health and ensure that he gets another contract before he retires. Can't blame him.
