What is happening for the rest of the announcements. ?

I fear that hc is being turned down and they are scrambling to fill the spots

Watch. It always starts of strong and ends in a wimper for players picked.

Both USA and Canada are having trouble.

I work a few previous world championships and there are always a lot of turn downs. But in talking with one of my former colleagues --who works full time in international hockey--some players are not happy about heading to France given the problems they have had over the past few years.

with the first round complete, if we do not have 80% of the team named by Thursday--we could see a few Canadians who play in Europe added to the team

Match vs Switzerland. Final one for the World Champs, and the only one for Canada. Rather excited for it.

It's not really the end of discussion, since the two events happened in different situations. If we knew that Price would go to the gimmick tournament after round one but not the IIHF tournament, then we would actually know his preference. I suspect his preference is for the gimmick, but it is not provable.

It's quite concerning that there is no more noise regarding the last spots. I would have figured that they would announced the last 4 - 5 or whatever spots. ????

Hockey Canada only announced the additions after the first round on April 28 last year. Its not all that noteworthy yet. It will be interesting if what jumptheshark said proves true.

He represents a legitimate top-pairing defenseman for Canada. Now he needs to convince his Olympic buddy Doughty to play (I know that ship has already sailed).

I heard Kouleas on the radio mention the same thing as those tweets regarding Vlasic and Rielly. Vlasic is a quality addition, Rielly as well. Vlasic would really shore up the defensive aspect. Defence would be adequate with those two additions. PP might not be great.

Additionally, some positive words from Scheifele regarding why he is going to this tournament after already winning last year:

but thats not a problem only with canada and usa. the european nations have this problem aswell.

Yes, Canada is the only country which actually can afford a low turn-out of quality players and still be ok with it.
