As far as I know he is dual-citizen who has spent a considerable part of his life in the U.S. I'm pretty sure he's been involved with USA Hockey at the WJC level as well.
Pretty strange choice for the coaching job, kinda weird to have an American behind the bench.
And I guess it's good to add Giroux, I heard he was pretty injured this year, would rather take guys that are healthy and can really move.
I'm a little worried that this team will be hollow, I don't think any of the forwards are real go to guys yet. The Avalanche guys have a lot of questions marks right now, Shief SHOULD be good, but he's not a go to go yet I think, Giroux is hurt, O'Rielly is a really good player, but again, not a game breaker.
Just a strange feeling that this team could struggle.
And Getzlaf too?![]()
Anaheim is not going to lose to Calgary.
edit: Huberdeau says he hasn't decided yet, but has been contacted.
why would drouin not go...??
kid got attitude , is he hurt? does he not like cooper? lol

Drouin and Point not invited.
The coaching stuff looks pretty strong to me.
Can't say that I'm all that trilled about Coach Coop getting the gig. And it has nothing to do with his dual citizenship, I couldn't care less about that nonsense, just never particularly liked his coaching style in Tampa, both on the ice and off. I would have preferred it if HC had given the gig to Gerard Gallant. but anyway, a goaltender that can make a save is more important than any motivational speeches from the tanned cooler than school coach. .
but hey, I wasn't impressed when Peters got the gig last spring. so, what do I know?
If Drouin is not legitimately nursing some injuries, he needs a smack upside the head. Nate needs to give his junior buddy a call and tell him to get onboard.

Brayden Point, too.

I am really surprised that Giroux is going... he should take a rest, but good for him, he's been very loyal towards Team Canada.
At this point the biggest get we could get before the playoffs would be Benn in my opinion. Obviously Doughty, but clearly he never said what was reported. Once we have a top centerman this team will be stacked.
Pleased about Simmonds. I am quite surprised about Giroux given his snubs from Hockey Canada and some obvious injuries this year, but credit to him. Maybe his fiance really wanted to go to Paris. I considered Giroux Canada's best forward at the 2015 tournament.
Cannot complain about the forwards on this team. Depending on usage the team already has four centres more than qualified for their roles. The key remains defence. Similar to last year the team is lacking a number one defenceman. Last year the team improved significantly when Ellis moved into that role. Burns filled that role very well in 2015. I still think that Nashville and Calgary will be key.
Do you think Subban would go if they get bounced out and is healthy?
A guy like Giordano I have pretty much given up on.
