Point is a guy that they can probably wait to invite, but I would invite Drouin now. He is very good.

Demers is fine, but I don't love the invitation. He is the kind of guy I would probably replace with a Europe based defenceman, o another younger defenceman, depending on what else Canada gets. I'm quite optimistic for at least Ellis after the first round.

As someone who takes in a couple of games a year when I manage to escape the Canadian winter down south, and although my first choice is always to make the drive to Tampa Bay to see Stamkos and Drouin play, I'm pleased with the Matheson Demers additions. I did see 1 Florida game this year, they were both excellent.

Well apparently my memory has gone to total mush lately, but didn't he decline last year only due to medical? I believe he missed most of the last of the year and didn't get clearance.

Also I recall him making the trip one year and getting hurt in practice during the tournament? Is that also just me imagining things?

yes you are correct about subban getting hurt one year...

And dont you all forget that subban also went over once the Canadiens got eliminated a couple of years ago...he flew in for the Quarter finals and played one game as Canada got eliminated in those quarters..

So if he is healthy im 100% sure he will go....This guy loves his country...he is a great individual

Not only that, I believe he was also nominated for one WC tournament, but injured himself in a pre-tournament game. I have no idea what tournament that was, maybe 2012, I don't know, but if I remember correctly he was going, and injured himself before the tournament. Oh yeah, here it is - http://olympic.ca/team-canada/pk-subban/

I believe that Subban and McDavid would go immediately if eliminated. I also think we will likely get Marchand or Stone, depending on who wins the series. I hope that Rielly would go if they miraculously don't beat Washington. Marner and Kadri obviously could get a call too.

Not super high on Huberdeau, seems like a guy that has just never put it together. Looked bad on the lockout WJC team, and I think he played for Canada at the mens level when he was younger and I wasn't impressed. Maybe he'll prove me wrong though.

That's interesting. I always thought Cooper was aligned with USA Hockey.

Nope. He's definitely Canadian. :D

You might be thinking of the World Cup where he was assistant coach for the North American team?

Congrats to Coop and Team Canada. For all the flack he gets from some TB fans, he's a damn good coach, imho.

Edited to add: He did work with USA Hockey for the WJC.

As far as I know he is dual-citizen who has spent a considerable part of his life in the U.S. I'm pretty sure he's been involved with USA Hockey at the WJC level as well.
