Tade's list looks correct for now. Morrissey is a good add. He was a very good WJC defender and was good for Winnipeg this year. He could use the experience. I was hoping to see him.

Morrissey is a great addition imo. Not only he's pretty good and talented, he can also be moved to a 7th spot if needed, similar to Domi situation last year for example.

Morrissey better then Hamhus?

At this point, probably. He's an incredibly smart, very mobile D with top-end hockey IQ, is rarely outmatched by size or skill despite being medium-sized himself, makes very few mistakes and is quick enough to make up for them. He also seems to be able to play with just about anybody. Has pedigree as an offensive D but had relatively few opportunities to generate offence in his role this year. I think he'll do well for Team Canada.

I wonder whether the fact that neither Horvat nor S.Reinhart have been contacted by HC, is a positive sign. It may very well be, because if you haven't even contacted S.Reinhart (and O'Reilly, from the same team, was contacted "a week ago or so" according to O'Reily himself) it means that you have other options available in my opinion - at least that is my assumption now.

We'll see, but so far there are signs that this team could shape up to be pretty good.

Benn and Seguin about IIHF Worlds

Seguin - On if he would consider playing in the World Championship

"I think I'll have a talk with Jim before I take off here. We'll talk about that and in the end, I'm going to do what's best for myself and my body, what's going to make me the best for next year. I'll have that talk."

Benn

On if he'll consider the World Championships at all
""We'll talk about it and I've been thinking about it a little bit. I'll have to once again do what's right for myself. Probably talk to Jim a little bit and we'll make a decision."

???

Maybe things work different in the US, but in Canada high school graduations are always June/July.

WHC is in May

Taking a look at the calendar of his daughter's school, graduation is on June 2nd but there's other things going on through the month of May he might want to be around for. IIRC she's on the track team and there are several meets, school exams, AP exams, awards days, etc. so I can imagine that he'd want to be around for it, especially given that this is his oldest daughter.

Where we are at...according to me anyway. An entire 1st. line. a 2nd. line RW (hopes pinned to Mark Stone) a 3rd. line LW. (Drouin) A #1,2,3 and 4 D-man, and a #1 goalie.

A 3 day training camp with 1 pre-tourney game and we should be good to go.

WOW !!:amazed::amazed: As an Avalanche fan since 1998, I have to say, I must be one of the most spoiled fans in world :D:D. I can't believe how many Avs and ex-Avs are in this line-up .

Mackinnon, O'Reilly, Duchene, Barrie, Pickard !! I'm still having a hard time getting over it. :hyper:

What do yoy think ? This boys will go in Paris?)

I am more confident in Benn than Seguin, because of what Seguin said here:

"Yeah, when I hurt my Achilles, they told me it would take about a year to be fully fixed. Still waiting for it to be fully fixed I guess. Last summer, I didn't get a chance or the opportunity to do any running, do any agility. I just was able to ride the bike, so this offseason I'm looking forward to doing that a bit more, getting that next step of speed."

Benn seems to be quite open to go, and he seems healthy, so maybe. They both say they will tak with Jim Nill about it, so I guess the chance is there. One thing that could be positive here is that Nill was the GM of Team Canada in 2015, so even though he's not the GM this year, he probably has some positive relationship with HC and the tournament itself.

I will be surprised if Seguin goes, given what I read about his Achilles-injury, but it's not impossible. Benn could go eventually, but hard to say now.

Drouin and Point not invited.

Point is a guy that they can probably wait to invite, but I would invite Drouin now. He is very good.

Demers is fine, but I don't love the invitation. He is the kind of guy I would probably replace with a Europe based defenceman, o another younger defenceman, depending on what else Canada gets. I'm quite optimistic for at least Ellis after the first round.

I think Robinson or LEE better then Demers.

I know nothing about Demers, literally nothing, but pretty happy with Matheson. They can probably hold off on D men now and try to get some big fishes, because so far the additions have been really solid. Honestly even if we don't get much more talent, our D is much better than last year already.

Goaltending will be the real question mark again. Talbot was excellent last year in the last couple games.

Edit: Jack said getting Ellis would be good, I would LOVE to get Subban, who always volunteers if he's healthy.

Not as confident as you on Subban, think he bypasses this thing most years now, just a hunch.

Well apparently my memory has gone to total mush lately, but didn't he decline last year only due to medical? I believe he missed most of the last of the year and didn't get clearance.

Also I recall him making the trip one year and getting hurt in practice during the tournament? Is that also just me imagining things?
