Haha :D ^^

since Hextall is the GM, I am even more interested who goes from the Flyers and who don't.

Giroux - I would be quite surprised if he went... he doesn't really need to go and rightfully so.
Simmonds - that's different case, I would like to see him in Paris after another strong season, he deserves to end the season on a good note.
Couturier - he's had very strong second half of the season, after he came back from injury, he's the best Flyers 5v5 scorer... he's definitely no-brainer for Team Canada if he wants to go.
Schenn - he would provide good secondary scoring on Team Canada, useful on the PP, physical player. After 2015 when he was most of the time only healty scratch on stacked Team Canada, he deserves another shot with better opportunity. He improved his game.

Del Zotto - UFA, doubt that he would go, most of the people here don't even want him on the team, that's not surprising, he hasn't had very good season, but last circa 15-20 games, he's been solid, but Canada should have better options anyway.

Konecny - that would be similar case as last year Domi, it would be good for Konecny to go there and experience a new level of pro hockey, and chirp in some games. He's a player.

There's plenty of Flyers players/prospects who could play on the WHC.

I think Giroux could use the full summer off...but as for the other 3 forwards, their services would be greatly appreciated. Simmonds has been exceptional and Schenn was a great team guy in 2015. I'd like to see him back in a more significant role this year. Konecny could be the 24th or 25th roster spot in and out of the lineup depending on opponent.

He doesn't say. His statement could be taken in a number of ways with regard to participation. I expect that he won't, but that's pure speculation.

Probably depends on when they ask him. Let him cool off for a week after the season and he might be in a better mood. He always seems like a gamer for Team Canada.

I think you are right. ROR is a rinkrat. He loves to play. give him a week and then make the call.

Hope he goes. understandable if he takes a pass.

It's possible. I'm not really taking anything from his statement, I just don't expect any player to go to this tournament four times in five years, especially after having an already extended season and with seemingly no Olympic carrot to chase. If he goes then that is certainly admirable.

Is Dutchy the first to confirm? Good possibility he wears the C after all his years of service including a couple of "A's" on his sweater.

Duchene is the first that I've heard of. Dater also says that MacKinnon is undecided. If this is true, then credit to Duchene. He's getting to Smyth/Doan level. I don't think that he is a captain type, but I would be fine with him having it after the loyalty he shows.

Duchene play bad season.

True

Many players better then Duchene
like Horvat or Point

Not true

Duchene's season certainly went to crap after the trade rumors started but he isn't a bad hockey player. He needs to be stronger mentally and not let things like this bother him as much as it has no doubt, but the guy can play hockey. Up until January 1st he had 24 points in 32 games which included 13 goals. That pace works out to 33 goals and 62 points over an 82 game season. Colorado's current leading scorer is Mackinnon with 51. A hockey player doesn't just turn that bad in one day.

Before this season Duchene has averaged 62 points per 82 games played
From the start of this season until January 1st Duchene averaged 62 points per 82 games played
From January 1 to now Duchene is averaging 31 points per 82 games. Exactly half.

Anyone who thinks this new Duchene is going to be norm is most likely a little off. Production doesn't cut in half over night.

The players that I am most expecting are guys like Horvat, Huberdeau, Couturier, Skinner, Reinhart, Domi. Young players who haven't really had extended seasons or gorged themselves on this tournament. Hoping for a Scheifele and maybe one more player of that calibre. I also like Drouin, a player I consider to be much better than his numbers indicate, and hope for him. The key for defence, in my estimation, will be Calgary and Nashville. If Canada can get two of Hamilton/Brodie/Giordano/Ellis/Subban then things will probably be fine on the back end.

Duchene, MacKinnon, Scheifele confirmed.

Very nice. Have to respect those guys. They've all played in this tournament at least once in the last two years, at least twice already overall and they've all had extended seasons. It seems like the tournament is being viewed in a more positive light by the young Canadian players.

Canada should at least have two credible forward lines now. Watching Winnipeg earlier, wouldn't mind seeing Little get an invite. Not sure if he would go, but he's a very good player for this level.

Very nice start, hoping to see Simmonds and Skinners name here soon, a couple of great wingers.

disappointing season for Matt and Nate. I would have been okay with either one or both taking a pass, but good on them for again stepping up. Really hoping now that Drouin accepts an invite.

Edmonton went from 1st.rd cannon fodder to opening rd. favorites v. the Sharks. If that's how it plays out, then Jones would be a decent goalie option. Burns is too much of a get...but you never know. you just never know.

Any news on Doughty? has he threatened to punch any reporters in the face for suggesting he play in the WHC?
