NHL can hop off, he's already been suspended for an entire year and left the country. They're gonna suspend him another season? Absurd.

He never actually received his supplemental discipline. They said as much when the ruling came down. He left the country voluntarily before he could be deported. He'd have to 1, petition to come back to the US. 2, petition to return to play for the NHL. 3, serve whatever additional supplemental discipline they had planned for him, which from what I understand would be lengthy.

In other words...he's not coming back.

And even if he did actually come back, the Kings would not be willing to deal with the PR nightmare of sending him back on the ice as a convicted spousal abuser.

Blake & Stevens. Looks like the organization is dead serious about "wanting to keep our identity" (aka hockey that doesn't work [anymore]).

Anyway, I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong.

You keep pounding the drum for the wife beater ignoring that the NHL said if they ever even let him come back to the NHL, he would face long-term supplementary discipline.

Because suspending him a full year wasn't enough. The NHL is probably still working on it's own investigation.

I believe this is correct.

It would take a miracle for Slava to play in the NHL again.

Wonder if the NHLPA could get the suspension retroactive to 2014-15 though. They do that in the NFL I think. He just pays back the salary he earned from that season (I think he was still paid right?) and that will count as his suspension.

I wonder if he has an extra 4 million laying around.

The wet blanket persona isn't very becoming on you. I expect this type of post from Quat:shakeheadtro, but not you!

I mean he's been making $4.5mil a season with SKA, so I think he might have a few mil laying around nbd.

I have read that he would make about 3 million a year with SKA. Since it was a 3 year deal Voynov would still be under contract to SKA and not able to return this year anyway. Right?

Apparently Mike Futa met in Buffalo yesterday for 3 hours for the GM job.
What are your thoughts of Futa as a potential GM? Strengths?

Futa is very popular on this board, not really sure why, the Kings drafting has not been good this decade. No one really knows any strengths or weaknesses because it's not clear how much say, if any, he had over any of the disastrous moves made the last three years.

Cant be, we promoted him to blakes training wheel/safety net.

Pierre LaBrun @RealPierreLaBrun 14m ago Hearing Mike Futa has been named the new General Manger of the Buffalo Sabres.
