Not sure if anyone has see Pierre LeBrun's latest Tweet, but LA is on Dion Phaneuf's willing to be traded 2. I know that his wife is on the netflix show the Ranch. So i can see why LA is on his list.

LA can't add dmen before expansion. Maybe after if either the names of Gaborik or Brown go the other way.

Which defeats the purpose I guess.

Would you guys trade one of Martinez/Muzzin for Galchenyuk?

Young 50 point center/winger with decent size.

If its cap space you want then just ship out Gabby along with Amart + 2nd/3rd... that'll bring our total to $15 million in space..

The truth is we should go into the season with the roster as is with a few depth singings with the hope guys like Carter, Muzzin, Martinez, Brown and Maybe Gabby play better/maintain production and increase/regain their value. If we show no progress then we ship those guys off for some nice packages and do a rebuild around Pearson/Kopitar/Toffoli and Doughty/Quick... Just to cover all bases since some smart a$$ will point out only DD is a building block, some of those contracts are unmovable while some are bargains... We could be in a Herschel Walker/Dallas Cowboys type situation with our players...

I would make sure that Doughty was locked up long term before I re-built around him. Without a long term contract, it leaves the Kings in the position of winning now.

I'm one of the few who would take Phaneuf. Especially if you can move Gaborik and Muzzin/Martinez for a winger.

At that cap hit? It would be lunacy. He has four more years left at $7M. No thank you. I'd rather keep the D as is or if they end up moving one, target a UFA dman. Big pass on Phaneuf.

I agree the cap hit is bad. But if you can offset it in other areas, moving Clifford, Gaborik etc etc, I'd do it.

Top 4 of
Doughty-Forbort
Muzzin/Martinez-Phaneuf

Looks good to me.

He's a LHD so more likely...

Muzzin--Doughty
Phaneuf--LaDue
Forbort--Gravel

Or

Muzzin--Doughty
Phaneuf--Voynov :sarcasm:
Forbort--LaDue

And it would have to involve Brown for cap purposes because you can't move Gaborik when he's hurt.

Brown + McNabb + Dowd/Shore for Phaneuf

Kings don't win in 14 if Stoll doesn't injure Vlasic.

He sucked the next season and he wasn't brought back. No big deal.

People miss valuable Stoll, not last season or Minnesota Wild Stoll.

It definitely helped. We don't really have anyone that plays on the edge like that now. Brown pulled his head in, Nolan had an injury riddled season and usually only rolls with 4th liners, clifford is too honest. Having a guy that can rattle / upset the oppositions top 6 is very useful.

I have personally like the idea of a Brown for Phaneuf swap for a while now. Both are overpaid--no question about it at all. However, we don't need to pay a third line winger $6 million, and can replace Brown with Kempe or Brodzinski or any other bottom sixer making around a million dollars. But, if we get Phaneuf, we can at least comfortably move out Muzzin or Martinez for a prospect or 1st rounder, and have our second pair be reliable with Phaneuf/LaDue or Phaneuf/Martinez as pairings.

Also, we will likely save money:

Minus $6 million for Brown and $4 million for Muzzin/Martinez, add $7 million for Phaneuf and $1-2 million for Brown replacement= savings of $1-$2 million.

Sens need to move him and if they eat the right amount $$ and toss in a nice cookie, the Oilers might bite. Not an easy contract to move.

Brown will cost $3+ million to replace.

I don't like the idea of that Phaneuf cap hit. That's Doughty's current cap hit.

Sometimes I think people are trying to figure out how the Kings can on average have the five most expensive contracts in the NHL.

And I know it's eklund but he is saying Galchenyuk to NYR for Staal + pick is being talked about. We can definitely beat that with either Martinez or Muzzin

Yeah, if this is true we could easily beat that. Which leads me to believe it isn't.

Galchenyuk is worth way more than Staal.

Phaneuf is an average defenseman and is nowhere near worth his cap hit. I wouldn't take him even if the Sens gave him to us for free. The Kings already have two ugly contracts on the books, this would be the worst by far.

The only way I would even remotely consider him is if the Sens ate half his contract and even then it would never happen because it would require pieces from LA. The Kings have superior pieces internally.

A 488 GTB is on my list, but Ferrari ain't interested.
