GDT: 2017 NHL Draft: The waiting is over! The NYR will pick in the first round!

I thought everyone had Glass going to Vegas.

I'm just overjoyed that Draft is relevant again. These past few years have been depressing.

It will be nice to have a high end forward in the system again.
 
all of a sudden the Rangers prospect / youth on D goes to:

Skjei
DeAngelo
Bereglazov
Graves
Day
Pionk
Zboro and Pedrie

I think that's pretty decent for D no? Younger guys don't have to be rushed either.

I get best player available but probably going to lean toward forward with 7 and 21? Petersson/Glass at 7 and maybe Yamamoto in the 20's? if you trade down?

Last time we picked this high was Al Montoya at 6 Overall in the 2004 Draft.:popcorn:

Glass will be there at 3. He might not be there at 6. I think Patrick, Hischier, Makar and Heiskanen go top 4. Then, you've Vilardi, who the Canucks supposedly love at 5. That leaves Glass or Pettersson at 6 & 7.
 
Very curious where the Rangers go with #7.

Hoping for a C. Highest pick we've had since 2004 (which we blew on Montoya). Gotta try and nab a franchise center.

very debatable how good that group is but certainly better and much deeper than it was 2 months ago so the system depth is at least heading in the right direction

Barring some major off-the-board pick from 1-6, the best player available should definitely be a center. Glass, Petersson, or Mittelstadt. All guys who have 60-70 point upside.
 
still believing that lias andersson will be a nyr.

not at 7- thats too high in this draft, but thats a guy i think this organization is very high on.

fair value for him is probably in the 15-20 range so its doable.

i dont see us drafting brannstrom. :shakehead

i have a gut feeling we won't make 2 picks in the 1st round tonight. :naughty:

Well we better keep the 7th. dealing the 21st would be ok in the right deal. People keep saying this is a bad draft but there is good talent in the top end and we need young talent in the farm too t some point this century

At 21 Andersson is a fantastic pick.

I dunno. I can't see anything out there that really makes sense for 21 unless a guy like Duchene or Galchenyuk suddenly gets way cheaper. The Rangers could make up for a lot of lost years with these two picks.

Well to be fair when we have actually had our picks we have drafted well. I mean our last first rounder was Skjei who its safe to say is pretty good. Miller Kreider and Stepan were all good picks despite inconsistencies. Buch and Duclair obviously were good picks who ended up in the 3rd round. So I don't think they're bad at drafting

Definitely not stacked with blue chip prospects but really decent depth. Skjei is already very good proving to be a solid top 4 D. DeAngelo is an NHLer, we'll see if he can be a top 4 offensive D though. Graves is ready for at least bottom 6 / call up duty. Pionk is another righty offensive D that we can take our time with in the minors. Day. Much deeper than 2 months ago and we still have a draft coming up.

Bereglazov will be with the Rangers, as he has a KHL assignment clause in his contract!! But agreed on the prospective depth.
