I trust Slob Flake to make THE WORST possible draft day decisions. Watch. He'll screw up the expansion draft protection list....... BIG TIME!!! Flake's an incompetent tuna head.

Tuna head! :yo: I'm going to have to use that soon.

Honestly, if we manage to simply hold on to our first-round pick, it will be the best draft for us in a few years.

I don't necessarily disagree, but if the BPA when the Kings draft is a winger, I'd rather they go that route than trying to fix the center depth exclusively.

There just isn't much there. Cody Glass, Owen Tippet, Ryan Poehling, Martin Nećas... I think the FO will need to decide if we want to stick to our heavy play, become more offensive or for all we know they stick to DLs philosophy of taking a Dman with high upside

I like Cody Glass but now the kid is projected to being a top 7 player!
Although TSN has been reporting the Yotes want to trade out .... so maybe Muzzin is in play here ?? Just saying

NHL Network will be playing a handful of games from the U18 tournament. The live airings will be mostly 6:30am Pacific, so perhaps DVRs to the rescue.

Elias Pettersson has top end skill, but at 6'1" 160, has some serious filling out to do. Was #2 Final CSB Euro ranked and went #7 in that TSN mock.

Seems like a few of: Petterson, Tippett, Mittelstadt, Rasmussen, Tolvanen, Glass, Necas, Suzuki, Poehling will be available at the Kings slot. Probably 3 to 5 of those. Patrick, Hischier and Vilardi will be gone.

May be of note that Blake and Sakic were teammates a few years. Not that LA and Colo make good trade partners, but there was discussion about Ladue / Kempe / Muzzin and Landeskog - those names out there. Colorado scouts were in Ontario a lot, as well as Staples. I would suspect their discussions *may* be revisited. Something to think about.

will go to Detroit.
This was not a good year to suck as draft in very poor
People all say this. The reason it is considered poor is there is no elite talent at the top. If Matthews, McDavid, Eichel, etc were in this draft it'd be discussed very different. Actually a very good draft to have a pick ~10, which we'll have and allow us a good shot to walk away with the best player in the draft. Compare to the picks around that range last year: Sergachev, Jost, Brown, McLeod, Bean, Kunin and I'd just as happily or be happier to walk away with Tippett, Petterson, Glass, Necas, Rasmussen, Tolvanen, etc. I'd prefer to take any of the names I listed over anyone in the former group outside of possibly Jost. This purely looking at forwards we can take with that pick not including Liljegren, Heiskanen, etc I prefer to Bean.

Since everyone seems to think Blake wants to make a splash and might target TJ Oshie, we would obviously need to clear cap space so my question would be is Muzzin more likely to get us TB pick + and maybe target a Ryan Phoeling or would be better off targeting young talent in return... we must also keep in mind they would have to be draft exempt..

They do?

poop analysts and commentators have been quoted as saying we will target Oshie, whom i would stay far away from honestly...

We need to stay the course and go with what we have because we're limited in our ability to improve unless the kids have multiple breakouts and the vets return to their normal levels of productivity..

I like Oshie as a player, but the 23.1% shooting percentage is usually not sustainable. I'm curious to see if he ends up getting overpaid coming off a career year.

I agree. Forget Oshie unless he signs for $5 million for 3 years (which will NEVER happen).

Which "poop" analysts are saying Oshie to LA?

I believe i was on TSN BK.. plus a few other sights the day both DL and DS got axed and they were throwing out how we would increase our offensive production by signing TJ... I call BS but thats their job... speculation..

Jon Rosen also speculated that Blake would look to make a splash in free agency this summer. Didn't say any particular name though.

Just curious but does anyone really think this team will change must from last season???

5 extra goals scored and we're in the POs ...

I see the 70s line with 2-30 goal scorers JC, TT and TP at 20, Kopi should rebound and hit that 20/65-70 mark, Brownie looks like he'll be a 40pt scorer, while Dowd looks like he should easily hit the 30pt mark..

As for this draft since it is a draft thread i would LOVE Cody Glass, but checking on mock drafts this morning 1 had him at #2(helium), while most others had him as a top 5... Sucks because he looks to have some of the highest upside and if I'm correct he's also one of if not the youngest eligible players..

Oshie has more or less Toffoli like numbers, except Oshie had his break out year this year, while Toffoli had his last year. I think Oshie is worth $6 million for 6 years. By his 6th year, the entire Kings roster will be over the hill and we will need to rebuild anyways. Might as well get a legit top 6 to help us be competitive during the prime of Kopitar, Doughty et al.

I guess that also depends on who we can acquire by dealing on of our defensemen because thats the only way we could afford a TJ Oshie.... Too many variables at the moment to really know anything, what could Muzzin or Martinez realistically attract ???
