Las Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft picks will be announced during NHL award show on June 21.
That might help get a few more viewers.
Could be some awkward camera cuts to the audience.
Doubtful that anybody who gets picked will be there.
If a dman like Timothy Liljegren falls to LA, do/should they select him?
When that system changes to a more offensive scheme you have to wonder how many players on the current roster and even in the minors become totally incompatible with the new style of play. And if you get rid of them, can the replacements be effective and do they fit under the tight budget that the team is trying to squeeze under?
I'm not totally convinced that it's going to be a simple fix with a quick turnaround like some of you guys are making it out to be.
You can call me a pessimist, but this team has been operating one way and under one style since 2012 so there might be a lot of kinks to work through that could make it an ugly transition.

I dont think the system is going to change too much honestly. the team already has a very firm grasp on the defensive fundamentals (which wont change), the problem is what happens in the offensive zone and on the breakout. the dump, chase, lose puck, back-check, re-gain possession, rinse and repeat ad-nauseam Sutter-cycle days are gone. whatever coach comes in already has a strong foundation to build on, kinda like when Sutter took over for TM. Im cautiously optimistic because this team really cant get any worse when it comes to scoring. maybe all they need is a new voice to freshen things up.

For all I care, we could keep everything from the d-zone up to the opposing blueline the exact same (though the breakout was getting SLOPPY for a while there), just allow the guys to actually take chances in the offensive zone instead of just work the corner on rails and throw the puck back to the point. Throw a centering pass once in a while. Cross the puck across the slot. Anything.
(I'm oversimplifying, of course, I'd LOVE to see Doughty allowed to throw quick strike transition passes once in a while to keep everyone honest, for example.)
I think we have the personnel for anything but pond hockey.
The Hockey News' Ryan Kennedy also echoed those sentiments based on his scouting contacts. I suppose it'll be an interesting interview process for Liljegren with teams trying to hear him detail the past season (ie, how badly the mono set him back).
Read that also. Sounds like he was a top 3 choice, but the bout with mono really zapped him. Could be a real steal at 10-11 even though LA could use a quality C/W player.

If Timothy Liljegren is available you pick him and run! A kid that talented won't slip but if by a miracle he does.... you immediately put Amart on the block!
Why would drafting "immediately put Amart on the block"? Kid is 18, Amart is a very good NHL player. 99.9% sure he doesn't make the roster next season in the top 4.
He is beyond good and ready, if not for mono he's easily top 3... he's a plug and play kid, don't be fooled by his stats in a down year. He's probably on equal footing with Nolan, think Doughty/Stamkos debate just slightly less talented
He has to earn that spot, you don't just hand it to an 18 year old.
If he's been compared to Doughty and Karlsson, he'd be the consensus #1 pick. But he isn't.
