2017 Football Thread III: End of an Eli

I'm just happy that his 2011 bar on that first graph reassures me that Eli did ball the f*** out that season and I wasn't being duped by miracle championship nostalgia.

What a time that was

You know that Mcadoo's scheme does not rely on the deep ball, when you thron that type less it become more difficult to hit it when necessary.
And you are using PFF stats, do you know they consider our oline the 11th best this season ? I don't believe in their methods of analysing the game.

That's meaningless. We aren't talking about a rookie.

PFF isn't that inaccurate with their overall ranking of our offensive line. I primarily trust Football Outsiders for that, and they have us ranked about league average (and 11th in pass protection). So while I don't like the way PFF grades OLs individually, their overall grouping isn't far off from reality.

The defense was horrible in 2014,2015 and 2017.
Offense was bad in 2012, horrible in 2013,2016 and 2017.

Lets not blame Eli just because of his recent play. We had a top 10 offense in 2014 and 2015.

Seems you just want to buy into traditional stats without anything else. :: shrugs ::

That's impossible really. The most important positions are the tackles, we must have the 2 worst in the league. Eli doesn't help but, he, at best, has 2 s to throw the rock.

I watched the games too, I really thought he was good, but...
He was absolutely insane then. Eli's peak was really fantastic.

Nothing was like 2011, he carried the team to the playoffs on his shoulder and NFC championship game was the best game of his career.

But it's not impossible. He practices this stuff. And his YPA, AYPA, YPA+, AYPA+, and other passing stats in 2014 and 2015 were all around his career average.

I think you're just being blinded by the stat line in 2015. He put up a really great traditional stat line. No one would say otherwise. But when you step analyzing his actual play, you step back and realize just how damn lucky he got that year.

FWIW, I fully remember arguing with numerous Giants fans during 2015. That was one of the worst years I remember for his high throws and when it really started getting out of hand. But most people saw the low INT amount, the high yards, and the lack of turnovers in general and ignored it.

Nothing was like 2011, he carried the team to the playoffs on his shoulder and NFC championship game was the best game of his career.

2011 was way too much fun.

Cockrell has been v serviceable this year. We should've traded Apple earlier in the year like I said and given RC more minutes.

Apple has a very high dead cap hit. No chance they were trading him unless basically forced, though. It's going to be a big hit to cut the guy so I can actually see them keeping him around.

I think with the suspension they can void his guaranteed money. Read something along those lines.

Yeah, but that's a seriously dubious idea, IMO. The NFLPA is definitely going to sue over that. Otherwise, you could suspend guys for all kinds of things to void the hits and cut them.
I think it's worthy it. Eli Apple really is a headcase, yelling with the db's coach when he was so deep in a shithole with the team is laughable.

There isn't a single Giants fan I know of who wants any part of him.
Not that surprising to hear since you already have the defensive-minded guy in Spags. I think both are much better DCs than HCs at this point, and I've loved how Schwartz has coached the Eagles defense.

I think we are going to go with a defensive-minded coach, but I want someone actually good. Steve Wilks and Matt Patricia are much, much, much better options.

Colts win to ensure #2 pick, Texans loss gives B'oB a higher chance of not staying in Houston? Possible Win/Win or do Texans come back because of this jinx post?

And we can win against the skins without negative consequences. What a day in a shit season!
