This is where you have to trust your scouts, right? I mean, the kid could be Leetch... or he could be Rundblad. They get paid to know the difference.

Just don't take a McIlrath when a Tarasenko is available, and I'll be happy.

Makar is still a first round talent and will be a good player, as I said. I expect him to go around 15, rather than being a top-10 pick but I could be wrong

The age+league+defense combo makes top 10 too high for his draft range. If he's there at 21, I think we should probably take him, but not much before that.

Makar was 6th in scoring in the AJHL.

All five players above him were older: 2x 21, 2x 20, 1x 19.

Next closest defenseman was 30th.

I would take him at 7 no problem. Quality of comp worked out ok for Turris, Kreider, Wheeler, Stepan, etc. sometimes you have to believe in talent.

Getting EK comparisons on top of what EK just did in the playoffs is going to have sooo many GMs salivating to even have a chance to get something like that

Seriously, there are rumblings that NJ could try to pop him at 1.

I'd take him at 7, that skill set is elite regardless of what league he plays in.

I have been wrong before. I thought Barzal would be a top-5 pick last year.

I never said trade up. If we do get the 7OA, I want Petersson, Middlestadt, or Cody Glass. Take Brannstrom, Foote, or Jokiharju with 21.

If we somehow get #7 from Yotes and use it on Makar i'm going to be pissed.

I'd want Pettersson or Valimaki. If Glass is there, he'd be nice, too.

Yeah, but Makar, Rasmussen, Poehling, Anderson-Dolan, Hague, Mittelstadt and Tippett are all players who are ranked too high for my liking.

Agreed, however, I don't think Rasmussen is that bad. Definitely not top 10, though. I'd rather him over Poehling.

I have Rasmussen well outside the 1st round in my ranking, his 5v5 numbers are atrocious, think he's around 0.3 5v5 PPG with like 3 assists.

Yeah, but Makar, Rasmussen, Poehling, Anderson-Dolan, Hague, Mittelstadt and Tippett are all players who are ranked too high for my liking.

I like Hague, think he's right where he should be in that 15-23ish range. Also like Tippett, think i have him right around #10, great shot. JAD is good too, one of the youngest in this draft aswell which is a plus. Rest i'm also low on for different reasons.

It just shows you how much can change in 12 months. Every year you have guys who come out of nowhere (Makar, Brannstrom) and guys who drop because of injuries, personal issues etc (Day, Yogan, Mattheos)

Mattheos isn't a bad player, either. Will probably go early 2nd!!

Honestly this is pretty good. All are still generally projected 1st rounders.

And by all I mean 8/10. Whoops. Got a raging fever so gonna blame that.
