Around these parts some would advocate taking the 8th best D if only D went 1-7.
Yeah, no.
Take Nico and laugh all the way back to your seat.

Mark Edwards of hockeyprospect.com issued his final rankings yesterday and released his Black Book. Always a good read - and he periodically posts on HF, including in team threads. Here's his top-15:

Brannstrom and Valimaki were 16 and 17, respectively.
Edwards' final rankings have largely matched up pretty well to players' actual pick slot the last two seasons, with an exception or two. In other words, we can probably kiss Heiskanen and Makar goodbye.
Say hello to TL
Just take one of the forwards, we will get a good player at 8.
my second worst case scenario, worst case is we trade the pick for a forward
Botts goes forward and it'll be the fastest i've ever gone from "nice I like this guy" to "well whose next"
The worst worst worst scenario is Botts trades 8OV for MAF.
so realistically, worst case scenario is we get a forward
Liljegren will be a good pick at 8.

Someone who has watched some tape on him, someone convince me why Valimaki isn't talked about as a potential top 5 pick, right there with Makar and Heiskanen. The more I watch him, the more I see someone that has it all as a prospect.

If we can somehow have Mittlestadt fall into our lap... I would be happy as a clam
Would suck to let him slide past us only to have a huge bounce back year next year. I've said it before, but I think his draft year is somewhat similar to that of William Nylander. This is a player with multiple elite qualities to his game. I'm saying that there are plenty of solid options at 8.
