Yeah it is going to be an interesting call who they put in the net tonight. Personally I think I would give Hart a shot to bounce back right away tonight against Slovakia and if he slips up again that is when I would give the net to Ingram.

I think that would be my call too.

I agree with this. The first two goals are goals where Hart would have liked to get a piece but didn't. Clague on the second goal was standing right in front of Hart and he stood literally no chance. The last goal was a bit of a stinker I'm sure Hart would like back.

I also agree with the post above stating the QOC goalies face in the CHL is lesser than the Euro goalies. This will definitely make it tougher for someone like Hart to adjust to facing 4 quality lines that can burn you. Samsonov had the other end of the struggle where he needed to adjust his angles for NA ice. As the tournament wears on he will more than likely get better and better; if not than Sukhachyov will get a chance, and he might not relinquish the net when he gets it....

I would rather that they start Ingram tonight, go back to Hart for Latvia, Then let Ingram play USA. Pick the better performer for the quarterfinals and on. Since two of the upcoming games are likely to be pretty easy it's difficult to make a good comparison unless Ingram plays the American game.

I have to say and some may disagree , I think Strome and P-L Dubois are overrated and shouldn't have been drafted as high as they did. They are not dominant players as they should be and have alot of issues to work on.

I thought Dubois picked up his game last night, he got engaged physically and then things followed naturally.

He played well IMO.

He looked average offensively, I'm not going for the age excuse because you see what Jost did and what Barzal/Marner did last year. A third overall pick should be the easily among the teams best players.

I guess we saw different things or are expectations are different for the guy.

I thought he forechecked well and made things happen from that.

To me he was effective last night, I am not expecting him to score 20 goals, he just has to contribute each game, I thought he did that well last night.

I have to question if you watched last year because it is widely accepted Marner did not have a stand out WJC. I thought Debois was hard on the puck, and to me is one of the more reliable 3 zone players on Team Canada. His value this tournament does not seem to be one of just scoring. He looks to be in the role that is to support Strome, rather than be the offensive focal point. I think his value will be more in the little things he does to help the team win. It may not always show up in boxscores.

Dubois played well last night as did most of Team Canada. Dubois lacks the dynamic skating that will allow him to be an impact player at the next level. He'll make the NHL and have a productive career, but no where near what is expected of a player taken third overall.

I don't think that we would look too bad with McDavid, Marner, Konecny, Crouse, Beauvillier and Chychrun in the lineup. :)

Just imagine the U.S. team if they had all their best players available. The Finns would also be pretty dynamic. The world has largely caught up to Canada.

Marner at the very least showed offensive tools that were sure to translate to the next level. Strome doesn't skate and doesn't give effort defensively and without the puck. Dubois works but doesn't seem to have any standout attribute. You don't need to have a wow factor, but players like Tkachuk are elite at something. Maybe Dubois will develop into a front net presence and scorer but havn't seen it yet in the times I've seen him. Lets see how the tournament continues but I won't count strong performances against lesser teams , they have to perform against the Russia, USA, Sweden level teams.

Marner didn't stand out? What lol he was tied for the team lead in scoring and almost single handily carried the Canadians past the Finns. I swear you are watching different hockey sometimes. Though I actually agree with you for the most part about Dubois.

Really hoping that Ingram starts tonight. The problem with Team Canada in the past is that they stay loyal to one goaltender no matter how badly he plays. I don't know if Ingram is the answer but we need better goaltending.

Yeah, but he may not looking at him as that kind of player. They are trying make a centreman out of him, maybe a Jon Toews type of c-man who plays all ends, it's worked for chicago.............maybe Kukkolainen or whoever the Finnish gms name is thinks he can be that guy.Kane is a winger but he plays like he's a first line centre.

I mean, they are beating everyone up with a good defense and one top centre (and thats debateable) now arent they?

A good solid 2nd line both ways guy should do them wonders.

Hard to believe, when the player currently leading the NHL in points is still eligible for the Canadians.
