TC need to wake up..... Why is your best defensive defenceman is not taking part of the PK at all????????????

The last best on best tournaments would say otherwise.

Just look at the most recent NHL drafts. Canadian born players are making an increasingly smaller percentage of the players taken in the first round. This coming draft will be no exception. To not acknowledge the growing level of talent outside of Canada is to be blind to the obvious.

Yeah, but he may not looking at him as that kind of player. They are trying make a centreman out of him, maybe a Jon Toews type of c-man who plays all ends, it's worked for chicago.............maybe Kukkolainen or whoever the Finnish gms name is thinks he can be that guy.Kane is a winger but he plays like he's a first line centre.

I mean, they are beating everyone up with a good defense and one top centre (and thats debateable) now arent they?

A good solid 2nd line both ways guy should do them wonders.

I would suggest that when you hold the third overall pick in a particularly deep draft, you're hoping to secure a player that projects to being more than just a 'solid 2nd line' player. The question is, if they held the draft again, would Dubois be the third player taken overall? I seriously doubt it.

You're just like your namesake, you snap your jaws shut on something and don't let go.

Maybe he'll be a bust, I don't know, I will just let time play this out.

Actually, if we are talking about WW II US Navy admirals, "Bull" Halsey might be a better choice. Aside from the appropriateness of the nickname, he's charging recklessly in the wrong direction.

I posted this Team Canada was much better than last year's before the opening game this tournament. I am even more sure of this now.

Coaching is infinitely better. This team has the pieces to medal, and I believe win the gold.

The roster is being deployed much more favourably than Lowry deployed last year. This team can roll 4 Lines, and 3 D pairings.

I feel good about this year's team.

Barzal, Chabot, Jost, have been standouts so far.

Yeah I've been saying for the past few weeks that I thought people were being unfairly down on this years team. If Canada gets solid goaltending this is a gold medal team in my opinion.

really nice answer instead of the usual bickering. My hat's off to you sir!

Basically every year most fans say that Canada looks worse than recent years, regardless of whether it's true or not. Canada gets compared to basically the top Canadian teams of the past instead of its actual competition.

I'm certainly not blind to the growing talents of hockey players that come from other countries around the world. As a fan of international hockey since the 50's I have been able to see the game of hockey grow before my very eyes.

The point is that Canadian hockey players overall are better than they have ever been as well. With the exception of your country (down the road) no other has the ability at the moment to produce the depth of talent along with the superstars that Canada has been able to produce.

At the senior level I think the gap over the last 10 -15 years is greater than it has been in a long time.

Just sayin'

Actually, if we are talking about WW II US Navy admirals, "Bull" Halsey might be a better choice. Aside from the appropriateness of the nickname, he's charging recklessly in the wrong direction.

While Halsey's actions at Leyte were, at the very least, imprudent, Nimitz's decisions were always tinged with caution and good judgement.

Whatever we might think about Bergevin's managerial decisions to date, I for one remain quite happy that he didn't sell the farm to move up in the last draft to acquire a player who has yet to demonstrate that he warranted being taken third overall.

As in most cases, the best transactions are the ones' you don't complete.

Sure... if by "the world", you mean all of the other hockey nations combined.

Long gone are the days that Canadian fans could boast about sending two or even three teams to these tournaments that could each compete and win gold medals. Let's see if we can just win with the 'best' players that we have available.
