The 2022, 2024 and 2025 Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers may well have a fire hydrant in goals but count them out at your peril.
In his defense, Makar has had screwups that bad...not often of course but they've happened. How does Byram screw up that bad.....
There is a good chance Heiskanen is out till the 2nd round our later. I'm not scared of Dallas. They are beatable, especially if he's out in round 1
I don’t think it’s adjustment issue. It’s more of a roster and match ups. Dallas doesn’t have the same top end as the Avs, but they have a deeper roster. When they shutdown or limit the Avs top line, we just don’t have the depth to match Dallas. The 22 Avs team would beat Dallas though. We would have beaten anyone that yearThe only problem is that DeBoer absolutely owns Bednar.
DeBoer makes constant adjustments that Bednar has never been able to counter or deal with.
I'm sure Jets fans are excited at getting easy prey Avs in the first round...
What would you want him to do? Leap over the boards and go fight Benn or DeBoer? Scream at the refs? Cry in the postgame PC? Send the DoPS/NHL a sternly worded letter?Looking forward to Jamie Benn taking out four guys in his first shift in game one. Bednar standing and looking.
Scorched earth. If we're not getting past Dallas, Dallas aren't getting past anyone else. What would you want him to do? Leap over the boards and go fight Benn or DeBoer? Scream at the refs? Cry in the postgame PC? Send the DoPS/NHL a sternly worded letter?
He needs to land on a team where he'll be the top pair LD, ideally with PP1 time.I don't know what to make of Byram. I think he's proven now that he's healthy he can be a very good 2D, but I think he still believes he can be that #1 franchise blueliner and I'm just not sure he's capable of that.
I thought it was just a stupid trade from the getgo for Buffalo, when they already had Dahlin and Power. Not to mention how bad I felt for Byram, for basically landing in the exact same spot as he was in Colorado opportunity wise, but on a much worse team. I thought the only way that trade made sense is if Buffalo flips him for something else.He needs to land on a team where he'll be the top pair LD, ideally with PP1 time.
Buffalo was a bad fit, just like Mitts here.
I thought he was actually doing well there lately on the top pairing with Dahlin. He needs to land on a team where he'll be the top pair LD, ideally with PP1 time.

Two lefties playing together is never optimal, one of them is automatically handicapped. There's a reason coaches hate it, especially in the top 4.I thought he was actually doing well there lately on the top pairing with Dahlin.
meh , I think we handle them easilyOilers are cup favorites. Losing 5 in a row doesn't change that.
AKA "I don't remember the Vegas and the Dallas series but this is what I think happened"Now I kind of want Dallas in the 1st round just to debunk this narrative that DeBoer owns Bednar. The Avs have done very well against him in the regular season.. During the playoffs it could easily be argued that his success against us was due to:
1. his teams being healthy
2. our teams having lots of injured players
3. bad goaltending/injured goaltenders
Where DeBoer is better than Bednar is to influence the refs.
Furthermore as somebody else said, Heiskanen might not be playing until the 2nd round.
Blaming injuries and goalies is the easy way. One might also look at how we scored on Winnipeg at will, and then Dallas stifled all our offence. MacKinnon, Rantanen, Makar... none of them could do F all.AKA "I don't remember the Vegas and the Dallas series but this is what I think happened"
Nope. Wasn't injuries. Wasn't goaltending. It was coaching.
DeBoer 100% knows how to counter the Avs' run and gun style in a long playoff series...but since we can no longer play that style effectively maybe Bednar will come up with something new and we have an outside shot at winning this time. Who knows.Blaming injuries and goalies is the easy way. One might also look at how we scored on Winnipeg at will, and then Dallas stifled all our offence. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence, when Bednar has shown exactly zero deviation from his ways this season.DeBoer 100% knows how to counter the Avs' run and gun style in a long playoff series...but since we can no longer play that style effectively maybe Bednar will come up with something new and we have an outside shot at winning this time. Well he admitted a few days ago that the team changed and it's no longer working so there's thatDoesn't exactly inspire confidence, when Bednar has shown exactly zero deviation from his ways this season.
