Parent has a great season too. 42 points in 25 games, but nowhere near the caliber of Lafreniere. That's just insane. QMJHL's 2017 draft will be a special one. Adding to that, Samuel Poulin another 15 years old in Midget AAA, has 40 points in 26 games and Jakob Pelletier, 38 in 27.

Yeah, all I have been reading says that draft will be the strongest from Quebec in quite some time. I think Parent is still quite small though yes? maybe if he gets a bit bigger in the next few years things could even out between him and Lafreniere no? We are talking about 2 really young guys here.

Is not a flop , very good season too . Better than Morand/Comtois/Laberge for past years. Just Lafrenière is insane . Parent had 42 points in 25 games and Poulin 40 pts in 26 games . Pelletier , another foward is very good too with 38 pts .

Lafrenière is younger than other , draft is in 2020 . At my eye , i say that is the best player in world for this draft .

Parent have a great skil package . Lot of speed , able to make all want what you want in game . Etudiant of the game , can score et can pass . A top 10-15 in draft 2019 for now

Poulin is already two-way player/power-foward . Very intelligent on ice and strong . Posses a great accurate shot and some noise around net . He's a rare player . I think they will be the second pick of draft . Another top 10 pick for NHL

Pelletier have style of play of J.Toews . He's act like a pro . Always in good position . Not the best skil package but is a professional , go to the net and a good vision . Style of Joel Teasdale in Q , better at same age . #4 pick and a late first rounder in NHL probably .

Q draft this years is amazing . First three player could be a excellent first pick in another years and Pelletier is a nice fourth pick

Nice.

I sure hope for a resurgence of top quality/special offensive players from Quebec, I miss them a lot and they are needed. There was always something special about those guys in the past, true game changers and gave you that extra something special, a certain offensive elan to their game that you did not get out of players from other areas of the country normally.

I totally agree with that. It would be a welcome development to get back to that. Along with all of the international players coming over freely now (I mean unlike during the Cold War), it would be really exciting.

This year Team Canada will have a 2016 teams , not base on size but on speed and skilz . Lot of good skater here in front with McLoed Senyshin Steel Raddysh Dubois Gauthier Joseph . Nice combinaison of playmaker ( Barzal Strome Jost ) and snipe ( Gauthier Joseph Senyshin ) . Combinaison at defense is cool where 3 right def more defensively and 3 left more offensive with a good first pass . So this team will not dump and change but will have 4 line that can score and 6 def can move puck , beat F1 and make good first pass . 2016 team

At junior level , i dont think one team can dominate in physical way that much for beat them in that way . Girard/Bean/Chabot is the answer of your question

I don't understand your rules : you talk about 16 and 17 years old in Midget AAA? In Qc , player that is cut to Junior , play in Midget AAA not like in rest of Canada . Yes is work , great player play at age of 16 in this league . Mathieu Joseph is a good example . Not make the team at is first year (15) , play after christmas in AAA . At 16 , same thing but with Junior . Samuel Montembeault , elite goaltender , play just at 16 in this league . So 16 years old in Midget AAA help with development .

Thanks for you reply

Im a strong supporter and believe in quebec players but I blame Hockey Quebec for their politics and the reason why Quebec players are now one of the worse hockey producing entities in north america...they will be worse than the USHL eventually

1 star (Not even a superstar) every 5 years is unacceptable

Who was the last star from Quebec? Lecavalier ? Drouin ? anyone in between ? The Quebec players are leaving the province for NCAA

Anyways...as long as things dont change with Hockey Quebec we will continue to have a star once every 5 years...im hoping this AAA in pewee and AAA bantam will help...not sure

I am glad to see a few Quebec players on TC this year...i hope they play well

thanks

They are really needed, not just in terms of what they could offer to our National team but for the game itself. I've been watching hockey for over 4 decades now and the top players from Quebec were all a slightly different breed then players from anywhere else. I would be hard pressed to name a better overall crop of gifted offensive guys then Quebec players from the past. They truly added another dimension that we cannot for the most part reproduce in the rest of the country, they were a vital core part and need to be a vital core part moving forward.

This Butch is a superstar poster with amazing insight. Plus I read his posts with a French accent which makes it even more fun.

Big fan of Butch! :handclap:

I'm not surprised Cirelli is a lock. I think he was a lock after his performance at the summer exhibition series where he was the best player for Team Canada (granted, not a great performance from Team Canada in those games)

Whats the usual drop-dead date for NHL teams to let players go? Is there any hope for Crouse, Chychrun, or Beauvillier?

Drop dead date would be Dec 19. NHl's roster freeze.

Probably highly unlikely any of them get released.

McKenzie says Canada will ask but doesn't seem likely.

In theory they could get released after the NHL Christmas roster freeze. Pastrnak was last year on the 28th, but the team would have to know on Christmas when they submit rosters to leave a spot open for the additional player.

@jj cale : Development of player is hard to predict , nothing is impossible and anything is possible . 2 great player here so possible that Parent can be better than Lafreniere . But at this point , i put my money on Lafreniere even if Parent became 6'0

@jj cale and IKnowNothing : Hockey Quebec make a great move with adopting triple AAA in Pee-wee/Bantam . Also put now ''Elite'' and ''Minor'' . So example , all player age bantam can play in Elite , their make their selection with all player . After this , Bantam Minor have to take just 1 first year bantam + max of 3 second year . Before that , Bantam AA take all second years player for have better team and not for develop , so good first years go to BB and have bad coach etc . Great move their .

But i think in Qc we not develop skils , here why we have not a superstar player . Qc player are always smart in system , hard worker but never better hands than other . We have to make more individual with kids .

Other problem , we have to much league and offer , some player don't play in AAA and go at other school and play out federation . Caliber is too diluted .

@SH15 : Thanks you , i hope my coms are pertinent and especially comprehenable . I make my best to say what i want but not easy

For Beauvillier , i know that i don't be on team . Islanders confirm it at Team Canada . I know one person around team and Beauvillier so if nothing change since 2 weeks , Beauvillier stay at New-York

You have hit on the key here I think. I think there are other reasons and these reasons pertain to all of youth hockey in Canada not just Quebec but I won't go into them here.

We will have to sit back and see what this new minor hockey system in Quebec that you have described will produce, it sounds like a decent model.

I'm a fan of Q hockey myself so I'm glad to hear more about these names coming up, so thank you for writing a bit about them. I thought Xavier Simoneau was part of that group at one point but I believe he's had some injuries. How does he compare and what type of player is he?

I didn't see the first goal, but the Raddysh and Dube goals came off of nice little flourishes. Dube is a case where I wondered why the guy was actually at the camp, but he has looked pretty good in the exhibitions. Hopefully McLeod's head is fine.

Yeah, he really hasn't looked too bad has he?
