I'm watching this forum since very long time because i want to be a scout in my life . My english is poor but i will be my best . What is nice that i'm very young so i play basically against player 18-19-20 years in Q and player who have 16-17 i coach again them so .

For Girard , i think is a lot better than just a PP specialist . In 5 on 5 , i'm sur that is the best with the puck at this camp and have better vision than other . Some say is not good on defense but is not true : He have a pretty good stick and so good in tight area for beating F1 and make a solid first pass , so he never stick in her zone .

It's not that he's a PP specialist, bad on defense or whatever, no I don't think that's true, I just think that role makes the most sense for him on this team. Ryan Ellis is more than just a PP specialist, but back his first time here I believe he was the 7th D who got a lot of PP time and that was his role.

He could do more, but they've got some solid lefties on this team, it makes more sense to have Lauzon on the 3rd pair and Girard as the 7th guy with lots of PP time than the reverse, is all I'm saying.

Obviously he wouldn't just get PP time, he'd get on the ice 5 on 5 as well, he'd slot in here and there, and it would just be to start anyway, pairings change all the time, just in terms of right now I think that's where he fits.

In a tournament without a whole lot of time to prepare, it makes too much sense to me personally to pair Lauzon-Myers given their comfort with one another. They're not exactly a pair in RN, but they take shifts together a bunch. Chemistry and comfort level is so important, especially for d partners. Why make it more difficult if they're both on the roster?

Some good point here

True that chemistry is important and had duo from Junior Team is a nice option . But in my head , Girard had to be on top 6 . No one on the World Junior can apport offense and beat F1 like he do .

In your opinion , Bean or Girard?

Do you think he'll make the team?

yes, as the 7th D like I said but he really could slot in on the 2nd or 3rd pair too. 2 more D cuts right? I'd say Brisebois, and Clague get cut, thought I like Clague too

Both. Chabot 1 LD, Lauzon for another spot, these 2 for the other LD(which could be on the 2nd pair depending where they slot Lauzon) and 7th D spots. Though I haven't seen Bean play that much at all. So probably not the most informed opinion on him.

15 forwards left, here is how I see this going:

Barzal C
Cirelli C
Dube LW
Dubois LW/C
Gauthier RW
Joseph LW
Jost LW
McLeod C/RW
Raddysh RW
Roy C
Senyshyn RW
Speers RW
Steel LW
Stephens C/RW
Strome C

I'm really confused where these last two cuts are coming from, I would have to think Dube is one of them. After that it's wide open. Maybe Cirelli played his way off with the game today? If those two were cut then the following would be.

Jost - Strome - Raddysh
Steel - Barzal - Gauthier
Dubois - Stephens - Senyshyn
Joseph - Roy - Speers
McLeod

Mcleod makes sense as a 13th forward with that speed, he is going to burn some defensmen late in the periods in limited minutes.

where's Howden?

After 2 games ,

Lock IN

Dylan Strome
Julien Gauthier
Mathew Barzal
Tyson Jost
Pier-Luc Dubois
Thomas Chabot
Dante Fabbro

Offensively , we have two nice playmaker with Strome and Barzal , so i think we have to separate them and make two good lines . I think Jost with a pure goalscorer Julien Gauthier will be a nice fit in first line .Raddysh impress to me , very gifted and have a nice vision . I talk to member of Team Canada and say to me that HC not love Dubois that much , because he not a game changer and have no quality #1 . He probably have is change at te beginning at the tournament on the 2 . Roy is strong and make what any player can make . Win face-off , playing well on PP and PK , with energy of Stephens and noise of Joseph , real goal scorer can make the difference in this tournament . Mcleod has one quality for make this team : Speed . His not the best stickhandler or the best playmake but is not cool to play against . Love the skilz package of Steel et Senyshin . At the D i think is easy . Chabot is the best defensemen on the team and Fabbro will be a very nice complement to him . Bean/Juulsen and Girard/Myers is 3 duo very equilibrated . I have the chance to play with Girard in Q and Team Canada have to take him . Very confident with the puck and have the best feet . Some say that is not a good fit in PP because have no shoot , but i have the chance to watch him regularly and i have a decent quick snap when he have space . I love the skilz package of Mete but i think Lauzon will be the 7 because if Bean or Girard have a bad tournament , Lauzon can play lot of minute , his safe .

Jost - Strome - Gauthier
Dubois - Barzal - Raddysh
Stephens - Roy - Joseph
Steel - McLoed - Senyshin
Speers

Chabot - Fabbro
Bean - Juulsen
Girard - Myers
Lauzon

PP
Jost - Strome - Roy - Barzal
Girard

Steel - Dubois - Gauthier
Chabot - Fabbro

So far you are on the ball

Pretty good

Now I have a question for you or anyone else

What type of team are they building? Fast possession team? This doesn't look like a physical team for small ice

Will they be pushed around ? Are they a quick transition team ? Pmd?

Last question: a couple of years ago Quebec introduced AAA for second year players, is this working ?
I think Quebec needs to revamp Quebec minor hockey and somehow compensate the coaching and make it less political. Too many players get picked because Of who they know

I'm a proud quebecer but very discouraged about the deterioration of hockey in Quebec

And where are the former NHL Quebec hockey players for our youth !!! They have abandoned the youth of Quebec

This year Team Canada will have a 2016 teams , not base on size but on speed and skilz . Lot of good skater here in front with McLoed Senyshin Steel Raddysh Dubois Gauthier Joseph . Nice combinaison of playmaker ( Barzal Strome Jost ) and snipe ( Gauthier Joseph Senyshin ) . Combinaison at defense is cool where 3 right def more defensively and 3 left more offensive with a good first pass . So this team will not dump and change but will have 4 line that can score and 6 def can move puck , beat F1 and make good first pass . 2016 team

At junior level , i dont think one team can dominate in physical way that much for beat them in that way . Girard/Bean/Chabot is the answer of your question

I don't understand your rules : you talk about 16 and 17 years old in Midget AAA? In Qc , player that is cut to Junior , play in Midget AAA not like in rest of Canada . Yes is work , great player play at age of 16 in this league . Mathieu Joseph is a good example . Not make the team at is first year (15) , play after christmas in AAA . At 16 , same thing but with Junior . Samuel Montembeault , elite goaltender , play just at 16 in this league . So 16 years old in Midget AAA help with development .

I know he is not vying for a spot on the team this year but i am wondering if you have gotten a good look at that Joseph Veleno kid? Any thoughts on his potential?

I play against when he have 14 in midget AAA and watch 5-6 game with Sea-Dogs . Good player but not a exceptional for me . His quality #1 is her vision , looking like Spezza on ice . Great hands too , able to pass a defender with it . When i play against , Veleno not running the game with is speed but i think now he have elite speed and able to make play with speed . He's 6'0 so decent size also . So he will become a great player , probably a top 10 at draft but not at first pick overall . Have a lot hockey to play for him before NHL but now i say that Veleno will be a second center in NHL able to bring 20G-40A-60PTS . This kid understand very well the game , assurate that he will play NHL .

But for me now , the next big one in Quebec is not Veleno . Alexis Lafrenière late born in 2001 (so draft in 2020) he's #1 for stats in MAAA . Also 6'0 170lbs , 22 goals , 31 assist for 53 points in 23 games . Best stats for a kid since Lemieux/Turgeon , better than Drouin and Duclair . A late 15 and dominate this league like this....no sense to me

Lines for tonight's game against Czech Republic

Dubé-Stephens-McLeod
Joseph-Barzal-Raddysh
Speers-Dubois-Gauthier
Steel-Jost-Senyshyn

Brisebois-Clague
Chabot-Myers
Girard-Fabbro
Lauzon-Bean

Mcniven and Ingram

Scratch (And confirmed to make the roster) :

Carter Hart (G)
Noah Juulsen (D)
Anthony Cirelli (A)
Nicolas Roy (A)
Dylan Strome (A)

My thoughts with this line-up for the next cuts : Dube, Mcleod, Brisebois, Clague and McNiven. If Speers is still injured, I think they gonna keep Mcleod in the final roster

Thanks. Had hopes for him being a little more then that and the early hype was that he could be but he seems to have settled down a bit on expectations, it seems to be more then just you who think this way today. Still, most signs speak to a decent NHL career.

He seems to have come out of nowhere to me, all the talk the last few years seemed to be about Xavier Parent and how many thought he was the most talented guy from Quebec at that age since Mario but this kid seems to have leapfrogged him from what I have been reading about him.

I've got to think Fabbro,Gauthier and Barzal are probably slam dunks as well.

And Chabot of Course.

He seems to have come out of nowhere to me, all the talk the last few years seemed to be about Xavier Parent and how many thought he was the most talented guy from Quebec at that age since Mario but this kid seems to have leapfrogged him from what I have been reading about him.

Parent has a great season too. 42 points in 25 games, but nowhere near the caliber of Lafreniere. That's just insane. QMJHL's 2017 draft will be a special one. Adding to that, Samuel Poulin another 15 years old in Midget AAA, has 40 points in 26 games and Jakob Pelletier, 38 in 27.

Is not a flop , very good season too . Better than Morand/Comtois/Laberge for past years. Just Lafrenière is insane . Parent had 42 points in 25 games and Poulin 40 pts in 26 games . Pelletier , another foward is very good too with 38 pts .

Lafrenière is younger than other , draft is in 2020 . At my eye , i say that is the best player in world for this draft .

Parent have a great skil package . Lot of speed , able to make all want what you want in game . Etudiant of the game , can score et can pass . A top 10-15 in draft 2019 for now

Poulin is already two-way player/power-foward . Very intelligent on ice and strong . Posses a great accurate shot and some noise around net . He's a rare player . I think they will be the second pick of draft . Another top 10 pick for NHL

Pelletier have style of play of J.Toews . He's act like a pro . Always in good position . Not the best skil package but is a professional , go to the net and a good vision . Style of Joel Teasdale in Q , better at same age . #4 pick and a late first rounder in NHL probably .

Q draft this years is amazing . First three player could be a excellent first pick in another years and Pelletier is a nice fourth pick

Maybe that i play again in is bad game too . I have to watch i'm and make 0 points in 3 game against me . Morand , little bit older , dominate me 10x more than Veleno .

But he's will play NHL , 99,99 % .
