WJC: 2017 Canada Roster Talk - Part 1

Haven't seen an official roster for tonight's Sens/Leafs game, but the Sens GDT doesn't have Chabot in the lineup. I'll be royally pissed if the Sens keep a junior eligible d-man up just because he's on a ELC. If he's with the big club they better play him, otherwise send him back. It's one thing to sit a a 18/19 year old forward, it's something entirely different to sit a d-man in the pressbox with a bag of popcorn and instructions to watch and learn.
 
You guys still have one of the better teams, but you could be losing a lot of players.

This is way too optimistic. Konecny, Barzal, Marner, Beauvillier, Crouse, Chabot... They are all in the NHL, and some of them will stick for the whole season.

Players like Patrick, Speers (who's although also in the NHL atm) or Senyshyn, they should be on the roster. Guhle on defense is a good bet, too.

Jost, Fabbro as the extra players? I don't see it.

^ He'll post three lineups a day until Christmas so if you get annoyed by such things you might want to put him on your ignore list now. Just a suggestion.

Not my fight cuz Im much more interested in the US team but, if I had to guess you'll have everyone except McDavid, Strome, Marner, and (maybe) Konecny when the tourney rolls around. Im sure some of you guys know a lot better than I do, but that's where I'd lay my money.

In full disclosure, my statements might be wishful thinking. I want everyone to have all their best players on the ice.

Crouse, Strome , Beaullivier, Konecy and Barzal will all be sent back to junior. The only player that might stay is Marner. And I have a feeling the Leafs might loan him to Team Canada just like Vancouver loaned us Virtanen last year. (Great idea that was).

You should check your facts, you are almost always wrong, pretty annoying to discuss with you, as you are very uninformed. Konecny has made the Flyers roster, he will be on the roster for whole season, he's not going back to juniors. I am pretty sure that Strome is also not going back to juniors.

It is Konecny, not Konecy.

I'm pretty confident in my roster
 
Hextall has categorically said that Konecny will be on the Flyers all year. He has been assigned a 'real' number now and Hextall has never gave a player a 9 game trial in his time with the Flyers... and has even stated he disagrees with them and is not putting a player on the Flyers unless he thinks they can play all season at a good level.

Heck, he is starting the season on our 2nd line with Couturier and Voracek, and was one of the Flyers best forwards in pre-season.

Doubt this is a case like Virtanen or Duclair where they loan him back... as Konecny is not going to be languishing on 4th line or as HS.
 
Interesting that a guy like Speers, not invited to the summer camp, makes the NHL (so far), but probably wasn't a likely pick for HC. I wonder if a guy like Matt Luff can compete for a 4th line role, hard shot, big body. There is always a lot of depth for the bottom of the line-up, but we're lacking guys at the top line. Someone like Gauthier is ideal in the 3rd/4th line for scoring, and shouldn't be relied on the top 2 lines for scoring but if he's on the first 2 lines, we probably won't be in good shape.

Anyways here's my guess at the line-up, probably won't be accurate, but we'll see who ends up in the tournament.

So many players to pick at the bottom of the line-up, I think just go with young skill and speed. Just pick smart, skilled players, they don't need to be coached heavily and if they are a gold medal team, they'll play like one from the start of practice.

Some of these lineups look really good. I forgot about Vande Sompel and Bitten.

Who do you guys think are going to be available for the tournament that are in the NHL currently? Strome, Marner, Speers, Beauvillier, Barzal, Chabot, Crouse, Konecny, Chychurn.
 
Marner will certainly not be available. He's playing really well and is hands down the best out of all that could be eligible, besides McDavid of course. He's clearly ready for the NHL, and I'm pretty sure he's going to do some serious damage, could have a Domi-like first season. He looks great.

Im convinced that McDavid, Marner, Konecny, and Strome will be unavialable. I still think you'll get everybody else back.

Im thinking the US will lose Matthews, Hanifin, and Werenski. Tkachuk will be available.
