And looks like Carter Hart has more than a good chance, arguably a lock to be there? It could be really exciting WJC for the Flyers fans in regards to Team Canada.

Regarding goalies I'd say Hart has the inside track for right now. When the season gets rolling though there will be a lot of talented goalies looking to make a claim for the team.

Any shot for Matt Spencer? Or any of the Lightning guys besides Stephens?

Spencer, Cirelli, Joseph, Ingram, Howden

Matthew Phillips might grab a spot.

I'm glad they're back to this format rather than what they did last year.

It will be interesting to see who sticks in the NHL this coming season (and who isn't made available for the tournament). I just seems like there is a bigger swing of borderline players this year than usual (that could have a massive impact on the quality of the roster).

I think the next two years have the potential to be fairly weak. Of course, as always - who knows.

Top end depth isn't very good this year, and next year looks pretty bad even if everyone is available. A lot about this team hinges on the availability of Strome/Marner. There seemst o be buzz about Konecny as well, which is troubling.

One strange situation though is that as Canada's talent relative to the competition looks weak in the immediate future, the goaltending looks better than usual.

This team is going to be awful.

I wouldn't say that, I think you guys will be a tough out. The goatending looks pretty strong and you have some good puck movers on your D core. I'm going to the game vs Canada on Aug 6th. Will be my first USA Canada game at any level. Even though it's a pre tourny camp, the pace will be amped up.

This is going to be a strange tournament so many teams are missing talent Canada-McDavid and probably a few of Strome, Marner, Konecny, Barzal, Crouse meanwhile Finland is missing Laine Aho and Puljujarvi, the US is missing Matthews, Hanifin, Werenski and Connor, Russia with Provorov and maybe the Czechs with Zacha. Under normal conditions we don't have a chance but at least now this whole tournament could be up in the air.

Kyle Connor is too old. Lots of players will be missing though. This group of Canadians missing could resemble some of the groups from 2009-2012.

I think the team will be pretty good. Also thinking there will be more Canadians back short of McD then people think. There's still alot of firepower up front. Konecny, Marner, Strome, Barzal, Beauvillier, Stephens, Crouse, Merkley, etc. And that's only the 97 group.

So Ingram doesn't have a shot when CLEARLY he was the top goalie in the WHL last season. Not to take anything away from Hart, but christ the Tips averaged some of the lowest amount of shots against in the entire WHL where Ingram faced some of the most against.

Boggles my mind how if Hockey Canada doesn't fall in love with you, how they don't notice you.

Hilarious. Haven't checked in on the junior camp until this morning. Wasn't surprised by the Hockey Canada/TSN obsession, Strome-Marner chemistry.

Are they still discussing that? I know that playing ball hockey together one summer seems like a surefire recipe for WJC dominance, but all of the actual evidence from the ice doesn't support that theory.

There is an interview on the TSN website with Ducharme where he is carrying on about their chemistry as linemates. It's frightening when the head coach can't see what the rest of us apparently can!

Here are the jerseys they're wearing this season (also worn at sr men's world championships, women's hockey and sledge)

Hockey Canada will stick with that story right up to a 5th place finish. They care more about imagined storylines for marketing purposes and getting the new uniforms out to gouge the Canadian hockey fan yet again for more $$$. Hockey Canada bureaucrats need a raise.

Canada is going to be freakishly strong up the middle this year if all players return, many of these centers are play drivers as well.

Dylan Strome
Pierre Luc Dubois
Mathew Barzal
Anthony Beauvillier
Tyson Jost
Mathew McLeod

Personally I would shift some of these centers to the wing, especially ones who have played at a high level on the wing. Dubois and Beauvillier fit this bill.

This way you still have the 12th overall pick as your 4th line center if all players return.

Not to read too much into that, but inviting Barzal, Stephens and Konecny to show the jerseys perhaps means that HC is pessimistic about getting Marner and Strome.

Actually, having watched some of the video now, I was clearly wrong since Marner and Strome are there. Not a fan of Hockey Canada's big promotional blitzes. The players should focus on actually winning the tournament.

I understand TSN looking for built in storylines, but Hockey Canada should be fact and result based. Marner and Strome are two elite players at the junior level. Likely they will look at least good togehter given that they will be better players than almost all of their opposition. If there was any chemistry beyond that, we would have seen it last year.

As a side point, I find that legitimate chemistry in hockey is incredibly rare, and people often mistake two good players performing well together for those players having having great chemistry. Essentially correlation for causation. I can't remember off the top of my head any noteworthy chemistry on a Canadian team at the WJC level where both players together performed better than their individual levels would indicate. Maybe Marc Staal and Ryan Parent, but not sure. Hockey Canada makes mistakes when it chases chemistry.

We can probably pencil in Stephens for one of the centre positions. It's not a bad group though if everyone is back.
