I don't want to come across like a Flyers homer, but if Philippe Myers can't crack the right side of that lineup I'll eat my hat. He's clearly being overlooked because of his draft position and maybe also his groin injury during the Mem Cup.

If he was able to play at this camp he'd be getting the recognition he deserves.

yeah, the D is rather a wild guess of mine :) there's a few other solid players that I left too ... Myers can certainly make it

Yeah we're not winning gold with this coach and this compete level of this team. Start talking about 2018 now?

Our 2015 Summer Showcase was pretty bad as well. I remember Domi in that summer showcase looking hotheaded and just behind yet turned out to be an important player for the WJC in December. There's no doubt that this isn't a tournament to brag about. I just don't feel right writing off a team with this much talent.

Great to read about the chemistry between Strome and Marner though.

These two players are just so head scratching. They are excellent junior players and prospects who have torn up the OHL. They just seem to really struggle during this showcase. For every good thing they did there were also two bad moments.

The insistence that they actually have chemistry is mystifying. I understand that TSN wants built in storylines, but Hockey Canada should be able to simply look on the ice and see that it's patently false.

I have been waiting for HC to name the Hunters or someone that high to head this U20 team for a while now...

I only have 1 theory as to why HC does not hire a Hunter or someone that high...because HC wants to be in control , they want a yes MAN

its all about control at any expense

Renny needs to clean house, that 2015 gold was a blip

if we dont change he way we develop or hire or build a team those blips will be long and few in between

see yeah guys

i fear that the only way marner and strome dont play on the same line at the U20 is if one of them makes the nhl this year

that wouldnt be such a bad idea, let someone else lead this team

I'm surprised Brendan Guhle wasn't at camp. He can move the puck which is something severely lacking. Here's my projection at the roster after the camp:

Crouse - Jost - Konecny
Dubois - Barzal - Patrick
Beauvillier - Cirelli - Gauthier
Howden - Stephens - Roy
Senyshyn

Chabot - Juulsen
Lauzon - Bean
Guhle - Myers

Ingram
Cormier

The #7 spot on D is wide open for someone to take. Bean has to be on the team, he just makes this D group dynamic and he's fine defensively. Gets pucks on net, great shot, really smart. I like the wingers on the first 3 lines, good Cs. Just gotta hope the '98s bring their best game because we're going to need them.

I thought Connor Hobbs was excellent at the summer series, I think he stands a good chance at making the team.

I agree. Hockey Canada wants a Yes Man. They do need a house cleaning. I was puzzled with the team they sent last year to the WJHC. I was puzzled how they felt a guy like Logan Brown was not good enough for them last summer- resulting him in playing for the USA, and playing well for them. I can forsee another long drought if Hockey Canada does not clean up its act.

Brown didn't play well enough at camp last summer to make the team. Hockey Canada shouldn't be putting undeserving players on teams.

Above all these guys need to play with heart and soul. Play with pride and a willingness to give everything you got when you put on the Canadian sweater. I saw an utter lack of that this weekend. Barely anyone finishing their checks or playing with a fire under them.

So far, Konecny was the only one playing the Canadian way. No spots on the team should be guaranteed, hopefully they bring in some intense competition during the camp before the tournament starts. Anything less than Gold is a failure.

There is really a lot of forwards that could end in the NHL, so we have to wait and see. But if the best are available, I would probably play Strome with Dubois and Konecny, and Marner with Patrick and Crouse. Two #1 balanced lines.

Was not impressed whatsoever with the defence at the showcase.

Hope different guys are brought in.

I agree he should be there. He can take Roy's spot

I think you guys may be the favorite, but that probably depends if you have Marner, Strome and Barzal.

Barzal-Strome-Marner
Crouse-Dubois-Konecny
Senyshyn-Patrick-Jost
Beauvillier-McLeod-Stephens
Gauthier

Chabot-Juulsen
Bear-Myers
Lauzon-Fabbro
Chychrun

Hart
Ingram

I thought he was okay, struggled to move the puck quickly though and lost his guy during a US goal. I would rather let someone just fight for that spot, hopefully someone really steps their game up and gets it. Or maybe someone like Brisebois.

I forgot about Bear, I think he could take a spot.

Didn't catch any of the Hockey Canada summer jersey showcase due to summer vaca. Glad I missed it, and despite a lackluster and uninspired performance on the ice, Hockey Canada bureaucrats are thrilled and over the moon giddy with the unveiling of the new TC jerseys at 450.00 a pop. Regardless, I still prefer HC stick with this format as opposed to what they were doing, but dial back the marketing nonsense just a tad.

projected roster. I still hope Strome is nowhere near this team in December. and assuming Marner and Crouse will be unavailable in December, although based on their level of play and attitude, another year in junior wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for them. but just let's assume neither Strome, Marner or Crouse will be available. Hart is the starter (but on a very short leash) If he so much as burps in the wrong direction, I'd staple him to the press box.

Bear just has to be on the team in December. He most have pissed somebody off at HC not to get a summer invite...but Hockey Canada was intent on bringing in an American who is ineligible to play for TC this Christmas. I mean, why bother develop Canadian players and waste all that money if all we have to do is ride on USAH's coattails. We can just bring in Americans who happen to be the sons of Team Canada alumni. The Hockey Canada bureaucrats can save on that cost and vote to give themselves further raises.

Anyway, on to what matters....

If Barzal and Konecny are unavailable this Christmas, then forget it folks, it will be a 5th-8th place finish.

Hope the vacation was good :).

I'm with you on Bear, he should be there. Strome and Marner looked very off and don't have the chemistry TSN/Hockey Canada are trying to force down our throats. Hopefully one or both of them are in the NHL, just can't see them leading us to victory.

I'm really hoping they bring in a lot of guys for camp and have intense competition for spots. The effort level and compete were not good enough at the showcase. Konecny looked good, should be the captain this year.
