He had 7 points (3g, 4a) in the last 9 games he played, all even strength. He turned it up just fine - nagging injuries and frankly just an awful start hampered him, but I'm not the least bit worried about Stralman going forward.
His October/November performance was actually right on track with previous seasons. He had 1G 6A for 7 pts in the first 15GP which, if continued, would have given him a 30+ point season, just like his last two with us.
But he had that funky upper body injury in November which kept him out over 3 weeks. When he came back from that, yeah I agree, he had an
awful middle of the season. Just as he seemed to be getting better, he was put with Garrison so Coop could roll TWO decent d-pairs instead of just one really good one. He actually made slow poke Garrison look not as bad.
By the last part of the season, Garrison went down and Stråls was back to his old self, his production and skating were back to normal and he finished as a defensive beast. Then he turned in a totally dominant defensive performance at the World Championships along with 4A in 10GP. He and Heddy were the top pairing over OEL-Brodin and Klingberg-Edler. So, yeah, I agree with Macho Man, Strålman is the least of our worries this coming season.
BTW, of those first 7 points before he (and Stamkos) got injured, 4 were PPP with the following combos.
Vladdy-Drej-Strals
Vladdy-Strals-Johnny
Stammer-Kuch-Strals
Johnny-Strals-Stammer
Just saying...
