I mean he's a UFA he's 33 and will unlikely to take a very long term and it's not like he's gonna cost a fortune. Something like 3 years x $5 million AAV would not be insane. I'd say if anything he's an ideal replacement for Garrison. There's no need to make any more trades
He wouldn't be the worst signing in the world. Especially if only a 2-3 year deal.

He had 7 points (3g, 4a) in the last 9 games he played, all even strength. He turned it up just fine - nagging injuries and frankly just an awful start hampered him, but I'm not the least bit worried about Stralman going forward.

His October/November performance was actually right on track with previous seasons. He had 1G 6A for 7 pts in the first 15GP which, if continued, would have given him a 30+ point season, just like his last two with us.

But he had that funky upper body injury in November which kept him out over 3 weeks. When he came back from that, yeah I agree, he had an awful middle of the season. Just as he seemed to be getting better, he was put with Garrison so Coop could roll TWO decent d-pairs instead of just one really good one. He actually made slow poke Garrison look not as bad. :P

By the last part of the season, Garrison went down and Stråls was back to his old self, his production and skating were back to normal and he finished as a defensive beast. Then he turned in a totally dominant defensive performance at the World Championships along with 4A in 10GP. He and Heddy were the top pairing over OEL-Brodin and Klingberg-Edler. So, yeah, I agree with Macho Man, Strålman is the least of our worries this coming season.

BTW, of those first 7 points before he (and Stamkos) got injured, 4 were PPP with the following combos.
Vladdy-Drej-Strals
Vladdy-Strals-Johnny
Stammer-Kuch-Strals
Johnny-Strals-Stammer

Just saying... ;)

My UFA targets

1. Trevor Daley 3 or 4 years x $5 million limited NTC

-I'd like to give Alzner a chance but he's gonna be a long term deal so it might be best just to pass

2. Evgeny Dadonov 2 years x $4 million (because this is gonna be "prove it" deal)
3. Justin Williams or Patrick Marleau at 1 or 2 years $3 million

I think that should be enough

Oh and I forgot Radulov. I'd love him for $6 million but to hell with 7 or 8 years. No freaking way. He's not gonna be worth it when he's pushing 40. But if hes want $6 million x 5 years then I'll roll out the welcome mat myself

I really like the idea of Daley and Dadonov. They should be reasonable and would boost both defense and offense.

Ok, stop. Kuch was a maniac on the PP starting in Jan/Feb. Btw...after Stamkos worked with him on it.

Stamkos is still the league's most dangerous shot on the PP. Just because Kuch was amazing for 3 months it's no argument against not needing a guy to feed Stamkos - that's foolish.

That's the typical HFboard, forget the guy with the career achievement, what have you done for me lately mentality.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact we desperately need a righty puck moving D. Most likely they are one in the same.

Kucherov led the league in PP goals. Better yet, he and Hedman (and Drouin) led us to a PP that wasn't a complete embarrassment. We haven't had that in half a decade. So now that we DO have a good PP, you suggest we go back to the drawing board to make sure we've got someone setting up Stamkos?

We've actually solved this problem. It might have been the only thing that actually worked well last year. Why not address the things that didn't go well?

The Kuch-Heddy combo on the PP was amazing! Especially as it didn't seem that any defense could really stop it even if they knew exactly what was coming. lol

Dimitri Kulikov 2 x 4. Done when Kucherov is due a raise and when Sergachev, Masin and one of Thomas, Cernak or Spencer are ready.

Dude, where are you getting this idea that I'm saying split Hedman and Kuch up? Cause I definitely never said that.

Also, what the hell do the two of them have to do with the fact we don't have a legit puck moving RHD??????

Why are you so against getting a freaking RHD who can lead the rush and point a PP. We need one badly.

Also, stop thinking Stamkos-Hedman-Kuch will always be on the same unit cause they wont. Units get mixed up throughout the season.

Units get mixed up, and the top one takes priority. We've needed a puck-moving RHD to improve the PP. Except, lo and behold, we fixed the PP without it, so now it's not the big need it was. Hedman turned out to be a lot better on the PP than we realized.

We're probably going into next season with Hedman-Dotchin intact. Which leaves a second pair with Stralman on the right side. That lessens the need for a righty puckmover significantly. We could use a lefty though, to play with Stralman.

You guys are crazy if you don't think Yzerman will do anything to try to make our team better this offseason. Our team missed the playoffs he will be working hard to improve the team in any way he can. Also without trying to mess with the future too much, which I think is bright too.

nice to see someone agree with me, wait till Yzerman does his business will most likely have a better team than last season without a doubt.

I hope you're right.

Care to elaborate where Steve is going to look to improve our lineup?

If you say trade, please elaborate on who and what you think we can move.

Our 1st was a big trade chip for us.

Scary to think we're gonna rely heavily on FA....

couldn't have been that much of a big trade pick, GM's Wanted loads for D. We still have plenty of assets to get rid off for them. SY has already said that he will be looking at trades as there aren't many options in FA and they will be overpriced.

SY stated yesterday that he is looking for a TOP 9 Winger and a Top 4 Defender. There are many ways in which we could. We do have a ton of good prospects.
